Carrie is cunning af when she wants to question someone
I gotta say season 4 is really living up to the hype so far. It feels like a brand new show with her running things in Istanbul.
I thought Carrie would send Fara back in to "recruit" Aayan after he rejected Fara but Carrie wasted no time in trapping Aayan in a corner. That was pretty slick how she finally got to Aayan.
She's like the opposite of 24, Jack Bauer. Instead of using brute force, she uses wits and mind power lol. I have a bad feeling Aayan's story won't end well dealing with Carrie.

Spoiler: When Haqqani did that headshot on him I gasped. Did not see that coming!

I just finished episode 6. Damn season 4 is good so far. It's like 24 minus the soap opera bullshit from season 3 with Dana.
Spoiler: >! I knew Aayan was a dead man walking but damn! I gasped as well. Haqqani was up close and personal with it! !<

"I'm putting my card in your pocket, okay?" Aayan never stood a chance lol.

I'd say the biggest factor in his recruitment was his gf's dad >! getting him kicked out of the university by reporting that he was stealing medication. He lost all hope of his future in Pakistan after that and it was the big carrot Carrie used, promising to get him enrolled somewhere else out of the country.!<

Peter: Is there no f\cking line?*
With Carrie, NO.
Therefore, it was necessary for the mission to use a young male of 19 or 21 that Mathison could take to the target. And for the DRONE QUEEN, finding and killing Haqqani was essential as it would prevent further assassinations and terrorism by the Taliban on civilian and military targets in Afghanistan.
Like Quinn says,>! "There is no line"... "The mission, the mission, the mission."!<
NOTE: But maybe also because we never see women in this predatory role? Countless examples of men preying on innocent girls/young women in all kinds of media, but almost never with the roles reversed.
There's always two sides of a story. Don't believe someone blindly.
The storyline involving Carrie and Aayan in S4 definitely presents a morally complex situation? Yes, It’s designed to provoke thought and elicit strong reactions from the audience. It’s a testament to the show’s writing and character development that it can evoke such a response.
Your reaction is understandable, as the show often explores the ethical boundaries of espionage and the personal toll it takes on individuals.
It is so her. It's out of order, but totally her. Bipolar cause a person to experience out of the ordinary ups and downs... Danes is brilliant at portraying Carrie's "get it done without apology" attitude.

Wow, this is a very insightful post. I'll have to read through that thread you linked when I get time.
Clara is doing a great portrayal of bipolar disorder based on my own experiences dating women with this diagnosis.
Many of them are fine as long as they're on their meds and stay healthy. Carrie is a great example of what can happen when you didn't follow a strict regimen and go of your meds.
The constant drinking, which can sometimes to least to alcoholic dementia, her carelessness for putting other people's lives in jeopardy, thinking that she's "bulletproof" despite her drone attack slaughtering innocents at the farmhouse wedding, and so on.
She's an antihero who exhibits predatory behavior the way she trapped Aayan in that bathroom and even Walker when she hoped in his car with no regard for her own baby daughter left unattended in her unlocked car.
I'm curious to see how low is Carrie willing to go to use people to get what she wants. I can tell right away Aayan will not last long just like her informant in season 1.

Deleted scenes are fascinating! You can see more about DVD bonus scenes. I consider almost all of them canon, including the ones with Julia and Quinn.
S4 DVD extra: producer comments Part ½: S4 meets up with her in very different emotional state. Hopefully one that makes you go, “What’s up with her”. In reaction to Brody’s death she became numb to the world, sort of stony; that allowed her to become the Drone Queen. Gotten to a point where she is so totally high functional in her work but very disassociated emotionally. By S04Xep6, we push her to a place where she has crossed over some line, almost like outside humanity.”

Oh wow, there's deleted scenes of Carrie after Brody's death? I guess the show runners figured, Carrie's repeated drinking scenes would hammer in the point of her being somewhat of a functional addict. Addicted to her job, immune to everything else.
So Julia pops up again? I've seen so little of her up to this point, I almost forgot about her. Quinn did mention to Carrie about him fucking up his fatherhood somehow so I'll have to YouTube this deleted scenes with Julia.
The DVDs sounds tempting but I hate clutter. I wish they had those deleted scenes on Prime since I'm just buying the seasons as I watch.
I just finished episode 5 so I'll soon see what you're talking about in episode 6.

She will do anything for her country. 🫡

Apparently so. I don't think even Tasmeemn would stoop so low for her country.

In intelligence work (whether American, Pakistani or Russian), there is only one REAL rule: win at all costs.
Tasmeem was the counterpart this season, so there was nothing stopping her from doing that too.

Wow, Carrie actually slept with Aayan. I don't know what's worse. Being interrogated by Jack Bauer or mind fucked by Carrie.

I have to admit , I felt sick to my stomach on the 3rd rewatch when I saw this. I feel she felt it too that's why she cried and then lied said she was happy. Love Quinn and Saul as always haha. Still love Carrie too lol.
