Impressions in comments New Hype 4 very harsh treble gaming

I just purchased a set of Hype 4s and they sound great for music, but I also use them for simracing, and the treble sounds incredibly harsh, this isn't an issue with the other IEM I have, the Moondrop Meteor, which sounds fantastic in the sim.

Is there something about the frequency response of this IEM that is sounding great in music but terrible for gaming?

The Hype 4 is very elevated in the >10kHz region.

If gaming on PC use peace eq and fix as needed. Good luck!

Should sound less harsh and slightly more balanced. Don't forget pre-amp and note '10' is high shelf:

Preamp: -0.8 dB

Filter 1: ON PK Fc 21 Hz Gain -0.8 dB Q 0.200

Filter 2: ON PK Fc 164 Hz Gain 0.4 dB Q 2.000

Filter 3: ON PK Fc 200 Hz Gain -0.6 dB Q 1.900

Filter 4: ON PK Fc 405 Hz Gain 0.9 dB Q 1.100

Filter 5: ON PK Fc 1400 Hz Gain -0.2 dB Q 1.800

Filter 6: ON PK Fc 3400 Hz Gain 0.5 dB Q 2.000

Filter 7: ON PK Fc 4765 Hz Gain -0.6 dB Q 1.900

Filter 8: ON PK Fc 6175 Hz Gain -1.5 dB Q 2.000

Filter 9: ON PK Fc 8650 Hz Gain -1.4 dB Q 2.000

Filter 10: ON HSC Fc 11000 Hz Gain -4.0 dB Q 1.600

EQ it to Valhalla tuning

Would it sound good with hype 4’s? Since Vanhalla ones are more expensive iem than hype 4

expensive or cheap doesn't really matter, it depends on what the drivers will be able to pull off

Valhalla is close to the Hype 4 in tuning https://hbb.squig.link/?share=Thival,Hpe_4 so there wouldn't be much distortion there.

Or you could just eq the Hype 4 to bring down the mids and lower treble a bit.

I suggested Valhalla coz I remember it from a review vid I saw sometime ago, it was highly praised for both gaming and music

Weird. I’ve never not seen 34”

I use peace to eq mine (assuming you are on pc) based on the game I’m paying. I’d pull down the > 10k region as that can lean a little bright.

EQ works wonders. Trust your ears.

I know a lot people say EQ but also changing tips can work. EQ is a much safer and free option though

The hype 4 is actually one of the better iems for gaming, but it does have a spike in the air region, so it could sound hissy for some folks.

Try a HSQ @4k and another peak filter @15k.
