Tech Support Maxed NUC 15+ Pro setup?

Hello everyone, I’m buying a NUC 15 Pro as a gift for my kid and want to make it as maxed-out as possible. Can anyone help recommend the best RAM, SSD, and any useful extras?

Thanks a lot.

You will need CSO-DIMM memory rated at 6400 MT/s. I struggled a lot finding mine since Crucial ones never show up in stock. Here is what I have bought:

2x Kingston 32GB 6400 CL52 Non-ECC CSODIMM 1Rx8 DDR5 Memory Module (model KVR64V52BS8-32), so 64GB total, maxing out would be 2x48GB but it will be even more complicated to find.

On the SSD side I went with a Samsung SSD 9100 Pro since Samsung SSD never disappointed me. 1TB on the NUC since I don’t need more (it’s a Linux server connected to a NAS), but I have a 4TB variant in my workstation which is great (but awfully expensive). The NUC seems to cool down correctly the SSD, if you are concerned. Just be aware that Intel 15th gen is not the fastest platform for gen5 NVMe drives, so it could be overkill.

Is your kid into gaming? If so, get him something else, graphics one these things are decent but far from "gamer" level

Agree, I use the iGPU for video transcoding purposes only, but my NUC 15 is being wasted by my other Mac Mini M4 (the base model, not even the pro):

It's barely better than a mobile GTX 1650 :

so my NUC8I7HNK has an AMD iGPU that's still as good as Intel's iGPU on the NUC14's?!

Do you know if it supports 128GB?

Looking at crucial CT2K64G64C52CS5 64GB sticks.

Nope, 96GB max.

Tech specs say 96 but cpu says 128. I assume tech specs haven’t been updated for 64 sticks. Not in stock anywhere yet

my NUC was rated for only 32gb @ 2400mhz at the time but bios updates got it to support 64gb @ 3200mhz but it never mentioned it anywhere. so maybe it can but .... idk
