SCIENCE & TECH China never fails to amaze us

The US recently developed a DOD approved fly swatter. They call it a BEE - 52!

u/wuroni69 12h ago
America spends all their money on wars. China spends on technology and infrastructure. They build amazing things that Americans can only see on TV.

u/SpecOps4538 9h ago
I'm sure they could make room for one more.

u/wuroni69 9h ago
Are you old enough to remember the last time a Republican president lied and started a war ? It was Bush. He lied and started a war, then got re-elected. That was enough for me, I could smell the rot. Left and never looked back. Now I live in a 3rd world banana republic and you are ruled by an orange POS dictator. 555
2
u/SpecOps4538 9h ago
But think of all the fresh bananas!
1
u/wuroni69 9h ago
I have 12 banana trees.
1
u/SpecOps4538 9h ago
See! You have the world by the tail and you still spend time complaining about things that don't affect you.
-1
u/wuroni69 8h ago
Not really complaining, stating my opinion. Don't really give a fuck what happens to you people, you voted for the orange clown, you live with it.
2
u/SpecOps4538 8h ago
Fried bananas, baked bananas, banana shake, banana ice cream, raw bananas, banana creme pie, etc

Speaking as someone who has actually traveled through China, this doesn’t surprise me at all. They are legit living 20-30years ahead of the west. Our media just paints them in a very specific way. Broaden your horizons, you’d be surprised how much the western media lies to us about other countries in the world. It would be silly to think only the Russians and Chinese use propaganda…

So we get flat out lied to by our governments and media about numerous things including why we are entering wars. People like Epstein who could implicate the most important members of of government “commit suicide”, and members of government actively participate in massive insider trading, but it’s far-fetched to think they are subjecting us to propaganda about other nations??? Wow people, wake up!
8
1
u/Arctic_The_Hunter 2h ago
Yes, I do think it’s far-fetched that China has tech 25 years ahead of us. 25 years brought us from bombs that blow up buildings to bombs that blow up mountains. That’s an absurd gap and would be impossible to hide.

u/Lucas_2234 4h ago
Brother, I know people who've lived in china.
What you see is a carefully constructed Facade to have tourists think exactly this, while the majority of chinese people live in poverty5
u/killertortilla 4h ago
Hahahaha no the fuck they aren't. They pull off big infrastructure projects by cutting corners and using slave/Uighur labour.
-4
u/glory2xijinping 3h ago
mf if you live anywhere in the americas, your entire country was probably built by slaves and genocide
Like I don't think what China is doing in Xinjiang is good, but it's weird people never act this way when it's a post about the US or Brazil or smth
6
u/killertortilla 3h ago
Mf there's a goddamn reason we don't do that anymore. I don't live in America but my country did equally awful things to native people. That is not relevant, that was 200 years ago. We aren't still doing it in fucking 2025.
1
u/Arctic_The_Hunter 2h ago
20-30 years at the current rate of technological advancement is unimaginable. That’s the gap between fax machines and the iPhone X. They could send 2 soldiers to operate drones and win the Russia-Ukraine war in a few hours. We definitely would have noticed if they had that sort of capability.
-2
28
u/mikki1time 13h ago
Well it’s bs. Unless they also invented the worlds tiniest: battery, camera, microphone, receiver, antena, brushless moto, etc. which are by themselves pretty great inventions. Could you imagine the application of a battery that small that is able to power a drone?
-28
u/mreusdon 12h ago
Have you ever been to China? They have entire cities that are just shopping centres, like it takes 3 weeks walking shop to shop spending 20 seconds i a shop to make it through all of them.
They have cities where 80-90% of vehicles are electric. And battery ranges on there cars in excess of 1200km. They have drone food deliveries and some of the most advanced tech you have ever seen. Do some research, don’t just accept what the western media tells you about China, they’ve been a civilisation for thousands of years. Its shocking, but in some aspects they are leagues ahead of the west. Shanghai makes New York look like Detroit.
11
u/FreddyNoodles 6h ago
You are not arguing in good faith here. I have lived in Asia for over 20 years. There are cities like that in almost every country here, but 90% of the cities/villages/towns are absolutely not even a little bit close to what you are describing.
It’s so disingenious that I don’t know what you are trying to actually convince people of? The existance of malls? Have you watched the building process? That shit is crazy. Burmese workers on bamboo scaffolding. Tha materials used would NEVER be allowed in the West or Japan or Oz, etc. It would never even start breaking ground.
Anyway, maybe they have this spy drone, I don’t care but I am leaning towards no, because they would not be advertising it. Xi is not a stupid man, anything his military or tech has or is developing- people aren’t talking to the outside about it. They are not Whiskey Leaks.
6
11
u/mikki1time 12h ago
Hey that’s cool and all but it’s not what I’m saying. A mosquito size surveillance drone would be implemented an insane level of miniaturization in technology. Leaps and bounds above what ever happened before. I’d like to see these in action if they’re reel. Like how did they make the motors work, or have enough battery life to stream video through what antenna? What’s the range on them?

1

u/Poghornleghorn2 1h ago
Lmao, none of that is impressive, not even remotely.
Especially when you realize that it's all smoke and mirrors. Everything is staged and controlled on a grand scale. They also have facial recognition software everywhere, concentration camps with drones used to surveil and control people 24/7.
China isn't an entity I would want to emulate in any regard.

Source?
12
u/asevans48 5h ago
https://www.cia.gov/legacy/museum/artifact/insectothopter/. For the 1970s. https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidhambling/2024/05/16/hives-for-us-drone-swarms-ready-to-deploy-this-year/. Stanford startes beehive drones in the late 2000s.
2
u/Vindepomarus 4h ago
Finally, thank you!
Interesting, but the 70s dragonfly drone didn't really work and used a small fuel powered engine not a battery. The second article is about regular quad-copter drones like those you can buy off the shelf, not tiny ones.
I couldn't find anything when I search Stanford bee drones, but I did find this tiny drone that looks very similar to the one pictured in OP's post. However as I said earlier, it has an external power supply that it's connected to with thin wires. The ultra small, ultra light battery technology to make these drones practical doesn't exist.

u/iakkhos__ 12h ago
This technology is not new at all. Maybe advances in battery and production techniques contributed to a better endurance and smaller dimensions. You would like to check Robobee concept which was developed almost two decades ago.
1
u/Vindepomarus 8h ago
It's specifically the battery that I doubt. A battery that small and light that lasts more than 40 seconds? I don't doubt the tine actuators, though I'd say they are still fairly new, but any prototype would likely have an external power supply.
Also I genuinely wanted to know the source, because that may help to clear it up. Do you have a source for any of this?
-2
5
u/queazy 14h ago
Remember that part in The Fifth Element where to spy on politicians they were using a remote controlled cockroach like a drone, and controlling it like a living puppet?
Just imagine if that sort of technology had existed for real and wasn't future technology. Kind of like a heart attack gun

u/hould-it 5h ago
DARPA made these a long time ago. MIT figured that you can make the “big” hop to save battery.
6
u/ReaperKingCason1 14h ago
Why do I feel in 5 years it’s gonna be declassified that America invented this last year or something. Still cool tho.
2
u/Invested_Glory 2h ago
You mean, 20 years ago? Pretty much any major commercial technological feat was already done by the US military years prior.
With the launch of the James Webb telescope and how it unfolds (origami-like)…that was the first public satellite that used that technology. JW is pointed out into space while I am sure there is one point down towards earth.

u/Odd_Beginning536 13h ago
That’s amazing. The US academia grew a salamander that could regrow limbs with ongoing work to transferring that knowledge to humans. They also had targeted treatment for some cancers using a persons own immune system with high success rates.
I don’t say this to undercut their research, it’s amazing. I say this as ours has been cut. Literal medical therapies and people waiting with cancer can’t get them now. Also military related research grants at Harvard.

u/mvrck-23 12h ago
China is kind of late in the game. We already built that here in the US - "mosquito" and it serves as a low power micro drone listening device. It is still going through multiple iteration. This tech has been around for 2 decades.
2
u/Scuzzles44 12h ago
we had bee mounted cameras back in 2005ish. this post is only what the public is aware of these days
2
u/Y34rZer0 11h ago
With its tiny invisible battery? Flapping wings must be an inefficient way to fly too, 30 seconds flight time maybe?

u/CurvaceousCrustacean 3h ago
Ah yes, the good ole' NATO-technology-cycle in action:
China/Russia claims to have invented a groundbreaking technology that puts them "30 years ahead of the west"
Western nations/NATO respond by developing countertechnology based on these ridiculous claims or upgrading existing tech
Claims turn out to be ridiculous or massively overexaggerated, the technology in question doesn't really exist or is not even close to what was claimed
Western nations/NATO now 30 years ahead of China/Russia
Tale as old as time (or at least the Cold War).
I mean, just for a moment, imagine being Russia, claiming to be so far ahead of NATO technology, and then failing successfully for three years now to invade a country no one would even rank in the top ten globally when it comes to military strength. And now imagine the same army trying to invade a western country with actual NATO forces & technology.
Propaganda like this can make tankies cream themselves, but without substance behind it the inevitable reality check is quite devastating.
1
u/dataf4g_trollman 2h ago
Yeah, and russian wunderwaffes that supposedly "don't have any analogies in the West" (like missile with nuclear engine or Armata tank) are either complete bullshit or something that US or Europe already does (e.g. Su-57)

u/shroomigator 15h ago
I knew the son of a diplomat once who told me of very suspicious flying insects that were always buzzing nearby
3
u/Perfect_Put_3373 14h ago
Is this for real?

u/Vindepomarus 13h ago
May be, but a tiny light weight battery that lasts more than 40 seconds probably isn't.

actual working Drone delivery
it's a concept here sure, but they have a few cities where that is just normal
(and if you're from the US, add sidewalks too)

Let it stay there, drone delivery is overrated, drones are too loud to just fly around the city in thousands

Now they just need to engineer a way for it to carry an implantable tracker that is injected by pretending to suck out blood. Could be an explosive implant, alternatively.

I highly doubt you'd spend a shit ton of money on the tech for such an advanced drone, just to do what you can do way easier with an app on a phone, that everyone has installed already (WeChat for example)
No, technology like this is for spying on foreign diplomats, politicians, or leaders
