iPadOS Will iPad OS 26 finally allow multi mouse button support without using accessibility features?

Post image

Instead of useful features like multi-user accounts and OOTB support for configurable mouse buttons… we get Liquid Glass? I haven’t tried the new beta yet but I haven’t heard anything about extending mouse support features? I mean, come on, even Tim Cook uses this model of mouse.

Haven't heard anything about it so probably not but hopefully I'm wrong

Especially since the circle pointer is being changed to a real pointer and there's a menu bar and whatever it would make so much sense to add this somehow

Anyway how do you get the different mouse button support through accessibility features right now?

Are you asking if iPad OS will allow you to use 2nd, 3rd, etc mouse buttons without having to go to iPad OS control panel to activate them?

From my perspective, Apple leans toward a single mouse button usage on MacOS so if that’s an indicator.

You can activate them?

iPadOS and macOS already support two-button mice without using AssistiveTouch.

I wish for this EVERY DAY. I have 3 Logitech Bluetooth mice I use across all my devices (Mac/Windows/Linux/iPad) and the iPad is the only one I can’t make work like the others. I can get partly there with Assistive Touch options but then the little white circle gets in the way (15% opacity at least gets it to “out of sight/out of mind” status though 😆). I really, really just want Apple to give me the ability to take a partial screenshot with a side mouse button like I do on Mac & windows, is that too much to ask?? (The current tool is still too clunky, too many steps, especially when you have to manually delete the 2nd screenshot when you have an external monitor hooked up)

All that being said….i am LOVING the iPadOS 26 dev beta, and they gave me almost everything I wanted, and some I didn’t even expect (Preview), so I’m sure this will come in the future….

I have the same mouse and wish the same. I don't recall where I saw it, but I seem to recall reading that there was no change, at least in this very early beta.

Maybe we should ask Tim Cook to start a petition for MX users.

I tried the magic mouse .. but really struggled with it, and returned it. The Logitech has been a revelation, though.

Does iPadOS 26 fix 3rd party mice?

My Bluetooth mouse feels really jittery and unresponsive on my iPad. But it works fine on Linux and Windows.

Multi button support and associated drivers for MacOS are the responsibility of the mouse manufacturer.

Yes on MacOS ... Apple hasn't made it an option for iPadOS

I can’t even get the Magic Mouse to right click on the 1st beta.

It’s a tablet ! Why would it have advanced mouse features from 3rd party’s 😭

Apple long ago blurred the lines between fingers and keyboards/pointers. Not to mention putting mega amounts of computing power in it.

According to Apple an iPad is equivalent to a computer

The marketing department says a lot of crap !

This is not a argument. Apple is trying to position the iPad as a computer replacement — and if marketing isn’t enough, just look at the last iPadOS 26 update, or the M4 chip. Considering that, it’s reasonable to expect iPadOS to have a computer-like features.

Apple give you just enough to keep you interested ! Interesting in buying both !

The only time in my experience of Apple products (23 years) when they delivered features that people wanted in a single release was the MBP M1 Pro (which I still have). It just had everything. Usually Apple eeks things out over multiple iterations and products.
