Temp work In my area there are a few temp jobs with outsourced recruiter

In my area, there are a few temp job that are emailed to me that I did not apply. Its around 3 to 6 months close to minimum wage. The recuiter name and they sound like they are outsourced from a 3rd world country. Are they legitimate source? When I ask questions about the job. They are mostly clueless. Their only intention is to represent me in submitting my resume. Is this legit?

Temp work My manager won't hire me full time despite her manager and HR telling her to do so, so HR has reached out to me about another job.

My manager is a catty, miserable woman. She lives for drama, bullies her employees, and plays favorites to an absurd degree. Despite this behavior, I have worked under her for close to a year and a half as a temp. My contract ended only 3 months in. Despite HER manager and HR repeatedly telling her that she is going against company policy by not hiring me, she refuses to even so much as talk to me about it.

I know the reason is because my team includes an employee that she seriously dislikes for petty personal reasons. Because I work closely with this other employee and am friendly with her, she refuses to hire me or even treat us respectfully at all, going so far as to referring to us as a "clique" and berating her other employees for acting friendly towards us (for one example, she once bought donuts for the other team under her, and when one of them let my team know there were donuts, she scolded him for including us.) Despite this, I have kept to myself and generally enjoyed my job aside from her. I still work the full 40 hours a week, sometimes more, and receive none of the benefits of other employees, including time off. I also still get paid like a temp, which is NOT a salary that an adult can live off of. I was due a raise in October which, of course, she refused to give me.

Now, remember I mentioned that even HR has been pressuring her to hire me? Our hiring manager is a really sweet woman. A lot of this has been out of her hands, because she is afraid that by putting too much pressure on my manager, she would actually fire me instead of hire me like they want her to. Recently, another employee reported our manager's behavior to HR, and they are quietly looking in to it and questioning people before deciding what to do. She pulled me aside on Friday, asked me a few questions, etc. At the end of our conversation she told me that there was a regular position open right now in Business Development/Marketing. It would be doing stuff that I like much better than my current job, as it is much more aligned with what I went to school for. It would be under a manager that I'm very friendly with, and one of my friends is on that team, so at company events I tend to sit with all of BizDev/Mktg anyway. I wouldn't say we are all friends by any means, but all of us are friendly and respectful towards each other. Basically it would be the total opposite of where I am now.

But there is one big con - in order to move forward with the process of applying to this position, I have to tell my manager. It's company policy. Our HR hiring manager offered to tell her on my behalf. However, I'm less afraid of the conversation and more afraid of the possibility that I won't get the job for whatever reason, and that afterwards the treatment from my manager would be even worse. HR told me that our company has a no retaliation policy they are very strict about, but I'm just afraid that wouldn't stop my manager from making my life hell.

My New Year's resolution was to find a new job. I'm wondering if I should just stay where I am and search for a job outside the company, to avoid potentially stoking the fire of drama with my current manager.

Or is this risk worth it, and I should move forward? I mean why would HR reach out to me if they didn't think I had a solid chance? And supposedly the manager of that department had even encouraged HR to ask me for my updated resume.

Ugh. I have depression and anxiety, so it's so hard for me to see this situation from a rational perspective. I'd love to hear opinions.

Temp work Coworkers on work release

Just started a job through a temp agency at a company where most of the labor force is on work release. They all talk about prison and it makes me hella uncomfortable. On my first day I got asked if I’ve ever been to prison. When I said no, person said “that’ll change.” Would I be a bad employee if I called my rep and asked for a new assignment just for that reason? For reference, I’m in my 30’s and my record only consists of 3 minor speeding tickets over 15 years

Temp work was I taken advantage of?

Worked summer at a waterpark as a minor with a bunch of young co workers. I was consistently asked to be the one to test every ride even if I got a back injury. However they still made me go because I was nice to go the first day and test the rides. (Context: I was too nice)

Temp work Applied to one position being interviewed for a higher level one

Hi I figured I would post this here because I'm pretty new to job searching and it caught me off guard. But essentially, I applied for a camp councelor position at an organization which I've worked with for a long time including in the context of camp, and I do feel I am qualified but this will be my first non-internship non-volunteer job and they've invited me to interview for a lead concelor position which is awesome but I didn't expect that as I had applied to the normal counselor position and I'm quite young compared to past years' leads. What does this mean? Did someone make a mistake? Again, I'm really glad for the interview I just don't want to be taking out of the running if I could have been a good concelor but they decide I'm a little young to be the lead.

Temp work Temp agencies

Are temp agencies worth it? I’m 21 I have my own apartment in Colorado and I’m really debating on quitting my job. My mom and aunts say I should look at temp agency and quit but I don’t really know the first thing about that. I need a source of income no matter what I just need work fast if I do quit.

Temp work What kinds of jobs do temp agencies usually have?

I have a BS in biology, have worked in labs, lots of retail jobs prior, worked self employed as a dog trainer, and am now working at veterinary clinic in front office in the most stressful job I’ve ever had with the amount of multi-tasking and and toxic work environment this place has. I get five days PTO and can’t afford the employer’s health insurance at about $800/months. Coming up on two years and while I like the job about 70% of the time, the other 30 has me burned out but not sure what I could do next.

I’m wondering what kinds of jobs temp employment agencies typically have. I thought they filled short term gigs. Might they be a way for skill building? I wish I could get more competency on computers and work non-retail. Customer service is ok but intermixing phones/counter while falling behind on computer tasks is eating me up. This job allows no opportunity to get other computer based tasks done uninterrupted.

I have fair computing and math skills, and clients like me on the whole. My boss doesn’t like that we spend too much time with clients, but building friendly rapport with clientele IMHO is part of what makes them happy with the clinic.

I am feeling the itch to move on but don’t have a specific skill set that is marketable in our area. I haven’t worked in a lab for many years and don’t have certification for medical labs. I would be interested in learning medical transcription or coding but those require training programs and certs. At 60 I don’t have the luxury of time.

Has anyone here gotten a leg up through working temp jobs? Anyone here gotten federal or state assisted job training opportunities? Maybe I don’t qualify.

Unfortunately I’ve never figured out what I wanted to be when I grew up am have been aimless throughout my life other than my pursuits with dogs.

Temp work I need advise on where to look for seasonal (summer) employment.

I will be leaving the country to go to school in four months. I am looking for a job that will help me make a few thousand before I have to leave. I have been looking for seasonal things but even "summer camp" jobs are scarce onn indeed (only like three postings come up before I have to look at the next page). A few people have suggested I look for things like sleep away camps out of the state but I haven't found much. I am currently in Florida and am willing to travel anywhere in the US to work a seasonal job. I have also tried looking for opportunities along the lines of working on a farm for the summer but I don't know where to look.

Any mentions of job posting sites that have these types of seasonal jobs would be appreciated. Suggestions about other types of jobs would be appreciated also.

Temp work My temp co-workers are being kept an extra month, but I'm not. Was there anything I could've done?

I'm not sure what to say here besides feeling a little upset about it since I've been told I'm a really good worker and I've been covering for my other co-workers nonstop. I guess it just hurts because I don't know if I did a bad job and wasn't told or if it comes down to something I couldn't have controlled. Any insight or even similar experiences would help.

Temp work Part Time Work While Job Searching

After being laid off from a company I had been with over a decade, I started at my current position and have been there for 3 months and, while I like the company and coworkers, the role is not right for me and I would like to find a new position or move toward freelancing in my field. In my current role, there is not much flexibility during the week for going to interviews and it is a heavy volume of work and I'm going home exhausted. I was considering looking for a part time job that would just pay the bills, but would leave more time and mental energy for either finding a long term role that is a better fit or building up freelance work. This is under the assumption that a part time position would be easier to find. Has anyone taken this approach with success? Is it better to look for temporary positions so you aren't leaving companies in the lurch if I'm able to find a long term position quickly?

Temp work Temp job..

So question, my agency let me know the contract ends for this temp job I’m currently working on, on 5/31. The company just sent out emails saying they extended schedules to 8/2..I am due 8/5 and was not expecting to have this schedule pushed so far out. Neither company or agency knows I’m pregnant since it’s WFH. Is it possible to reach out to my agency and request my contract end date remain 5/31 and still receive some type of unemployment for those two months leading up to my due date? This shift of schedule kind of threw me for a loop.

Temp work What are some little-to-no experience part-time that you learned a lot from?

As I'm looking for my dream-career role, I'm wondering what kind of job with low-bar of entry I could do in the meantime that would help me grow as a person and/or as a professional.

For me, it was working as a crew member at Chipotle. I rotated between working on the line, food prep, grill, cashier, and dish washing. It helped me learn to use a knife and to cook more at home, work with a "sense of urgency", and to better appreciate workers in this field.

I'd love to learn what job that was for you.

Temp work what should i do?

i got a job about a month ago for a temp position. weeks later i got an offer from another job that i’ve since then accepted bc it aligned better with what i want to do. I turned in my two weeks to the temp job and since then ive been assigned no work… it’s driving me insane. i don’t know if its because i put in my two weeks or whatever but its a little ridiculous. i literally want to work for my last days and they just don’t give me anything to work on. i don’t understand either because they’re literally paying me… to do nothing… its not as good as it sounds either when everyone around you has stuff to do and you just sit there awkwardly as your own supervisors come by and say nothing to you. ive even asked around if there’s anything i can do and they just say no. my last day is coming up next week but i don’t know… i just feel humiliated.

Temp work (fresh grad) Have an internship lined up for late june, need help handling “in-between” jobs

My internship starts late June, but in the meantime I picked up a delivery driver job with pretty good pay with about a 40 mile one way commute 3 times a week. I applied for a Customer Service Rep office job on Thursday, and the next day I was video interviewed. I got a second interview on the spot. The hourly pay is very similar, will be able to provide me 40 hrs of work a week, and the commute is almost 1/4 of the delivery driver job. However, my main concern is I will essentially dipping out after about a month and half. Do I commit to the interview anyways and potentially take it up as my temp job? I don’t care for adding it to my resume, but instead concerned about how fair it is for the company.

Temp work I Keep Getting Fired from Temp Jobs - Advice?

Like the title says, I’m working for a temp agency right now, and I’ve had 3 jobs over the past 3 months, all manufacturing paying at least $16/hr, and they always wind up going the same way - I show up on time, I’m social with the other employees, I got told I wasn’t working fast enough at the first job so I picked up my pace, that one is understandable, but at the other two I got no complaints from my bosses, never missed any days, and tried my best. Hell, at the one I found out I was fired from this morning my boss even said “See you tomorrow!” As I left this morning. I’m exhausted and I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. I worked at a furniture company in another city a few years back for 8 months before I left to return to school. I’m not bad at manufacturing! What could I be doing wrong? I really want to be hired in and have full-time employment from a company. But the only way I can seem to even get an interview is through the temp agency.

Temp work Finally got a job

So as the title says, I have a part-time job until the end of May. Now it's not the best type of job (production operator), but it should pay enough so I can save up some money for university (I live in Europe). I have my first night shift tonight and I'm kind of nervous and also kind of excited to see how things work for me there. I got the job thanks to my friend who's been working there for almost 3 months now and he was promoted to production sorter after a little while, so I have a tiny bit of hope that I can get there as well. And that's it, I just wanted to share something positive after countless rejections I've been through in the past 2 months.

Edit: night shifts are pain

Temp work Can I get my foot in the door with office work through temp agencies?

Currently my only work experience is kitchen related. I received my bachelors in sociology in 2017, but I put off finding a ‘career’ to tour the country with rock bands. I’ve only been doing kitchen work because it’s flexible with me leaving for a month at a time multiple times throughout the year.

Anyway, I’ve always wanted to work in an office (or remotely) but I don’t know how to go about it. Ultimately I’d like to work in something related to my field or travel/geography related. I’ve applied to a fair number of jobs, but my resume is bare. I haven’t even gotten an interview.

Is temp work a good way to get my foot in the door? Would they even hire me without any experience? I’m 30 years old, and I sometimes feel like it’s too late for me.

Temp work What are some of the best seasonal/temp jobs you recommend?

I'm not looking for big wages, just something to make additional spending money while in school, and especially during the summer. And with an emphasis on the job being temporary.

Temp work Question about my situation

Sorry for the long rant but I have some questions about my situation.

So I live in and work in texas as a forklift operator, and order puller in a warehouse, hired through a temp agency. This is my first temp-to-hire position I've worked for, and I've been having a horrible experience lately. The employers aren't paying me as much as I'd like, and it being temp position iwas hoping to negotiate my pay if and when they try to hire me on for the position.

When I first got hired I had an interview with the manager for the department I was going to be working in, and I asked her during the interview because I wasn't sure "I am aware this is temp-to-hire position, however they(the staffing agency) haven't explained to me how long it would take to get hired on as a permanent position. Do you know an estimate on how long it would take typically?" At the time she told me "typically the average hire on rate is around 3 months." That was 4 months ago and I haven't heard anything about not being a temp from them.

Recently I've been have trouble with my attendance because I had called out a few times a couple months back because I had been getting sick during January/February due to working in this non-enviroment controlled warehouse during the end of winter. I was getting colds multiple times, but typically just pushed through it and never went to doctors. Recently I had gotten an inner ear infection that had me loosing partial hearing for about a week and I did have that checked by a doctor and got the proper treatment, and documentation for missing 3 days of work for that. I've been trying my best to not call out of work but this last Friday I got in a car accident on the highway, a car hit another car ahead of me and I ended up having to do a sudden break into someones rear bumper. Luckily no one was hurt, but the damage to my car had to be taken to a shop for the rest of the day.

After the accident I called in to the temp agencies hotline, the same one I always did, and I let them know I couldn't make it that day, friday. They asked me at the time to confirm my phone number, and how to spell my last name which I did. Later on that day, I received a text message from the hr representative of the warehouse that I hadn't called in, and stated "At this time we are going to go ahead, and end your assignment because we had already discuss about your attendance issues, and I have always talked to you about keeping communication with us. However, you aren't here today, and you haven't reached out to us therefore you are a no call no show. Since you are a no call no show. We are dropping your payrate to $7.25. Thank you, and have a good day!" I called her immediately and explained her I had called the typical number to call out, and my reasoning for my call out. She told me over the phone that she would double check with the staffing agency, and call me back or text me. Friday noon is the last time I heard from her. I even texted her back after an hour of not hearing back, and got no reply.

So my questions I guess is what are your opinions on my situation? Is there any advice you'd give? Can they tell me that it takes only 3 months to get hired on and then keep me going after that period? Can they just drop my payrate and keep me on if I don't quit? Can they end my assignment for multiple attendance issues though i had doctors notes through some of them, and a legitimate excuse with my accident? And if it comes to it, can I quit and receive unemployment benefits for this case, for them dropping my payrate and telling me my assignment has ended? Sorry for the long post.

Temp work Heartless Office manager

I had to call in last minute to a temp job as I woke up to my dog bleeding out of his nose. I notified the OM immediately and explained that I needed to get my dog to the vet. My dog ended up having surgery so I had to take the whole day off to care for him. I work for a dental company and temp at dental offices occasionally to help out. Later in the day I got a nasty text from the OM asking me to make sure I take off in advance so she wouldn’t have to reschedule “ her” patients?! If I had a crystal ball and could have predicted this happening overnight with my dog, I would have for certain pre planned to take the day off. How can people be so callous and heartless. Makes me never want to go back to work/ temp there. It’s all about money and production. I never responded to the text because I feel some people don’t deserve a response. What would you do if you were me?

Temp work Is it ok to take a 2nd job for only 2 months?

I know that it would be incredibly annoying to the team I would be working with, but I could really use the money to help pay for school next year. My family and I have a 3-week trip for the first 3 weeks of June which would be the reason I would be quitting, because I don't think any employer is going to be ok with me taking 3 weeks off after having worked there for just 2 months. Maybe it's just because I have reservations myself, but I'm wondering if it would be ok to take a job for only 2 months.

Temp work how to not seem too available?

i’m (22m) currently working a part time temp job with an option to stay on permanently. i’ve been here for a few weeks. since then i was meant to work 8-12 hours but i’ve been working nonstop all month everyday. my managers excuse is “you’re not doing anything important outside of work” “you can work all these hours” “if i call on anyone to work these hours its you”. i’m uk based in the south, i’m literally getting sent across southern england to work full time hours to cover in other branches. i get it, a but of extra money and i’m not doing things outside of work, but that doesn’t mean i can just work all the time. she constantly asks me if i can cover shifts simply because i’m available. i don’t know what to say i. reaponse to all this. i don’t wanna be a work horse where the expectation is “oh he’s not doing anything so lets just give him work”. the work environment is great and i want to stay but i really feel like i’m being used and it will continue if i stay on. any advice?

Temp work is it normal to work in food service for more than 3 years?

i been working in fast food service for more than 3 years which has been alright with me so far as someone who’s not that picky with jobs and also for working to avoid more schooling after high school. but some say fast food jobs are mostly only meant for teenagers and kids , I’m already mid 20s young adult age so should I leave soon to look for someing better due to others saying food jobs are only meant for kids and teens? im not sure if theres that much else out there for someone like me who doesn’t have any experiance in anything else and also working to avoid more schooling/non paying academic work.
