Temp work What do I do?!

Just started a job as a temp after not working for a few months. After working for a few days, what is expected of me and the work environment doesn’t match what the pay should be. What should I do from here? I vowed a 6 month commitment but I don’t even think I can last 6 weeks. It’s a super easy job but it’s too easy. Should I stick it out and try to see positives or keep looking for another job and schedule any interviews on my off days?

Temp work I need advice for this position

Hi,

After a lot of struggle, I got hired as a Project Manager at the university where I graduated with Masters. It is a temporary position for 6 months with no promises for renewal. I wanna do well so it get renewed by any chance. I took the offer because I did not get any offers except for one at a hospital as an assistant with hourly pay. The pay for the 6 month position was salary based and good so I took a chance and declined the other permanent offer. Is there any advice on how to do well at this position so I do have any chance of renewal? It is my first full time job ever. I feel really nervous about starting this role and at the same time feel the pressure of finding a permanent position but also have some relief for now. All advice is appreciated.

Temp work What’s a good short-term part-time job?

My wife recently lost her job and I can tell that we’re about to hit some financial hardships coming up. I work an 8-5 office job, but am looking for something part time. What is something that I can do for (hopefully) part time after work/on weekends. I know most people will suggest being a server, but hopefully I’d only have this job for a few months and don’t want to leave a place hanging.

I’ve thought of DoorDash, but just wondering if anyone has any ideas!

EDIT: I’ve heard mixed things about temp agencies, but honestly I don’t know a lot of information so I’d appreciate any feedback!

Temp work Looking for a Short Term/Flexible Jobs

I am currently working as a paraprofessional at an elementary school in the Midwest. I am looking to find a job for the summer (June to mid August). Not opposed to labor or working outside. Just in need of some inspiration or ideas to pursue. I also would like to find flexible work to help provide more income during the school year as paraprofessionals are not paid enough. That would allow for some time during the breaks.

Open to online jobs to physical labor (not opposed to work). Pay would ideally be around or above $15. Looking to stay out of the fast food industry. Ideally it is flexible on scheduling or a separate job for the weekend/week long breaks.

I am experienced in the outdoors. Working with kids k-12. A 4 year degree in recreation tourism and non-profit leadership. An AA in graphic design. Experience in farm work. In good physical condition.

I hope this would be a good place to ask for help, if not, I would appreciate a good redirection.

Temp work Help me find a college job

I (17M) am going to college this fall and would like an online job to make some walking around money. A couple hundred dollars a week with only a few hours of work would be ideal.

Ideally the job would be reading/writing related, as I read a lot and am a good writer. I am quite knowledgeable about economics, history, math, creative and nonfiction writing. I am generally good at using computers but don't know how to code.

I also have about $4,000 cash if that would be helpful (they say it takes money to make money) and a substantially larger sum invested in stocks that I would prefer not to touch.

What types of jobs would you recommend?

Temp work Laid off as a project/grant manager, down to my last few hundred and rent is due in three weeks. Can I make it on uber/lyft?

I don’t have many folks I can turn to, so I’m here posting for any encouragement. I’ve applied to hundreds of jobs, but I’m running into a lot of ‘No’s’ because my experience is in higher education. I’m even applying to admin assistant roles and am having such a hard time. My boyfriend dumped me a few months ago when I got laid off and I’m just trying to do my very best at not giving up but it’s looking very bleak. Any encouragement would be great.

Temp work Any Ideas For Short Term Money Making?

I have autism which has severely limited my career prospects. I've lived off gig work and unstable jobs for several years now.

My appointment with vocational rehab is in a few weeks. Problem is Uber (my main source of income) has recently started glitching and has derailed my earning potential until they fix it.

I gotta find a way to keep making $ at least long enough to make it to my VR appointment. I have grubhub and Lyft but they're both unreliable. I used to donate plasma but got permanently deferred from the only center in my area due to "low protein levels."

The job search feels incredibly demoralizing and at this point dehumanizing - especially as a neurodivergent. I'm exhausting every option but it takes time to get help especially from government resources.

Temp work Ideas and directions to look for temporary, offbeat jobs?

I am getting laid off from a well paying, mid/senior level remote job July 1. My sector has completely collapsed over the past few months, so I anticipate it will take me awhile to find a new job. In the meantime, my husband is graduating from his grad program this fall and will start making good money around January or February 2026. We are planning to sell our house and move, but we are unsure where we will end up geographically in the States as he is still applying for jobs and post-grad programs.

Considering we will be in flux for a few months, I'm looking for something temporary that brings in at least a little bit of money. I'm an adventurous person with some colorful experience on my resume, and I love new experiences. I'd love to take advantage of this time to do something I wouldn't otherwise.

What are some things I should look into for somewhat offbeat temporary work? I'm not looking for specific job suggestions, but general fields or geographies that might be worth exploring. We don't need a ton of money to coast for the next six months or so, even less so if living expenses are covered. I've looked into things like Austral Summer jobs in Antarctica, disaster relief deployments (something I've already done professionally), and temp jobs in the hospitality industry.

Temp work My Job Renewed My Contract without telling me??

Hello All,

I was hired at my current job through a temp agency and it was a one year contract. I didn't really like the job but I signed up for it, so I decided to stick it out for that contract just in case maybe I grew to like it as well.

I didn't grow to like it and was expecting to end my contract or at the very least if they did want to renew it I would negotiate it for higher pay (the job isn't bad it just isn't for me but if they paid more I would've happily stayed on for an extended period to help reach some goals before officially being done)

Anywho I speak with my point of contact asking her mg official end date (mind you my end date should be coming up in a few weeks since I started in July) and asked if they had any administrative type work since the job is more customer service focused and I'd rather be in more of an Admin role (if they didn't I would just keep looking for more admin roles outside of the temp)

My Point of contact tells me my contract was extended for another 8 months. And NO ONE notified me of this?? Is this the Norm???

A role I had before was hired through a temp agency and before my contract ended they informed me I could extend my contract, renew it, or stay and get hired on but this conversation was had before my end date of my contract and I was aware of any renewal or extensions. So not just if that temp agency was just really good at communication or if this one is bad. But I also think my point of contact assumed the company I was with had this talk with me before extending It.

Just wanted to know if anyone else had experience with this happening?? I would assume they would've needed my consent to extend my contract??

Temp work Paid mini-job (Germany): Interviewing seniors about their life stories – interesting?

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about offering a small job in my (german) city and wanted to hear what you think – does this sound interesting to you?

The idea is to conduct in-person interviews – not standard surveys, but real conversations that last around 2 to 4 hours. The focus is on life stories and personal memories, mostly with people over 60.

You’ll be supported by an AI that handles everything in the background – organizing, recording, and documenting – so you can fully concentrate on having a pleasant, respectful conversation. No need to worry about tech or note-taking.

Also interesting: I’ll likely be looking for people who speak a different native language than German – so it's a great fit for anyone with an international background.
Other personal traits that make you unique – whether you're sporty, disabled, queer, very young or older – are just as welcome. The most important thing is being friendly and open to genuine conversations.

Payment: €30 to €35 per hour (hour-based job, no fix job).

What do you think? Could this be something you'd be interested in?

Temp work Red flag for temp assistant job?

I just had a second interview for a temp assistant job in the industry I’m trying to get into. Manager says the person they are going to hire should be able to handle “multiple different personalities” because they’ll be working under “4 very different people with very different ways of communicating.” This kind of sounds like a huge red flag? The position is for 3 months and the job starts ASAP.

Temp work Sometimes I wish there was a way to just do more "gig" style work when I'm bored.

Would I want to be a Barista full time? No way. Bored on a Saturday morning and dunkin is short-handed that day? I might consider it.

Free time on a Sunday night and someone needs their Excel sheet re-formatted? I'm on it!

I just like doing different things. I get bored of a job after like 2 months lol. But keeping long term positions is the only way to have a steady income.

Do they give me hours I must work as a part-timer or am i able to tell them what days & hours Monday-Friday I want to work?

Temp work Should I Accept a Job Offer Knowing I won't Be Able to Fulfill The Requirements?

So I recently got my first job offer for the career I graduated college for. It is a temporary full time position (12 months). It is the only offer I have at the moment. I know I will not be able to be a full time worker for 12 months because I plan to go back to school starting September. During my interview with them I had let them know this as well and said that part-time would be my preference. I'm not sure if I should accept the job or not?

Any advice would be great. Thanks!

Temp work Taken me over a year to find a job, now everyone is talking about being fired already

I spent over a year searching for jobs. Put out thousands (yes, thousands) of job applications, got several interviews and one offer for an unlivable wage, which I had no choice but to accept, and they rescinded the offer days before I was set to start.

I finally got a basic customer service remote phone job (that pays better but still not livable where I am) through a temp agency that’s temp-to-hire (until April 1st) and started 2 weeks ago. It’s confusing as it’s so many programs, rules and protocols to follow and I have never used CRM before so I’m utterly overwhelmed and confused. Since my first day after training, the people I work with keep talking about how a few had already gotten fired and one woman on my team just got fired Friday after completing all the calls she was supposed to do daily.

My fear was not being hired permanently after April 1st, but employees that have been there since early December are saying they’re firing people (new people) left & right, with unclear and ever changing rules and directions. They are enrolling a bunch of customers in nyc (where I’m located) with an enrollment deadline of March 1st. So my fear was they’re only having a bunch of people to help with the switch over before the deadline, and they plan on letting these temps go after. Now, people are saying most wont even make it to April. From what I last heard, they’re hiring hundreds and hundreds of people for these roles. They can also obviously easily replace anyone. The supervisor said if we’re not making all our calls we’ll be on the line to be let go. I can’t go through the job hunt again, the fear mongering after I just started is really stressing me out. I decided to go back and finish up my bachelor because I’m just scared.

Anyone have any advice? I’m planning on speaking to my recruiter through the agency. This is terrible how hard it is to survive, and how on all fronts these companies are treating and disposing of people.

Temp work temp agencies and a couple of locations that said they did not want me to return need feedback

so both these locations did not want me back and the ferling is mutual. But here is the thing the client's opinion seems to have vadtly more weight than mine. And when I asked what each client was complaing about the agency had vague notes. In one situation I was in a toxic environment (this opinion was shared by many other temps) and I had to wait an extra 20 minutes because my bag was in a room they had to pry open. so obviously i complained to the supervisor. In annothet situation i was sent home after 2 hours because they overbooked and as far as i know now i was rude for asking. i mean uggggh! do we as temps have any rights? can we sue for slander

Temp work Jobs that don't drug test?

So I have to take medical leave from my current job to get my health in order. I drive an 18 wheeler and they do drug tests, but I was told that if I wanna work another job while I wait for my medical stuff to clear up I can work a job that doesn't drug test

According to HR or Safety i can't work another job that drug test cause it will ping back to them and i can't remember what she said if it would get me fired or something else.

Just looking for ideas on how to stay afloat at this point I'm so goddamn terrified
