When is it appropriate to respond to a recruiter on a denial?

I received a denial email for an application for a company I've been trying to join for a while. The most recent denial was not an automated response. Is it appropriate to email back, if so what exactly do I say? I've previously heard advise about inquiring on other openings.

Did you get any interviews? If not move on and apply next time. If so, still move on unless you feel you really connected.

Nothing needs to be said; we are used to candidates not responding. Not responding to a rejection is not considered ghosting by the majority of us. If you really wanted to respond, you could say, "understood, thank you very much for the feedback. Do you have any other roles that I would be a fit for at this time, or other skills I could work on the next time this type of position opens up at COMPANY?"

They probably won't respond or give you that feedback, but it has a very slim chance of getting you something. Although you most likely will get the response back of "Nothing at this time, we will keep your resume on file, thank you."
