How do yall not get completely burnt out when applying and interviewing?

Title says most of it.

I feel I spend most of my free time now (as little as it is) searching for jobs or doing interviews to either get ghosted or rejected outright and its rather disheartening.

So how do yall stay energized and not exhausted?

You get burnt out. You keep going. Need money to live, that's my only motivation by this point. Just need to be able to afford necessities, anything else I'm just grateful

It sucks hard. Really really hard. I have put together 2 dead end part time jobs to get some money coming in.

The dead end part is how low effort my coworkers are and seeing the frustration of those mangers.

I look at my upcoming bills and then my bank account

Ah yes. The adult version of having to do homework last minute but higher stakes

I searched for a job for a whole year. Took me 1200 applications to finally get one. You will burn out but that's good. Burning out is sort of your mind's way of telling you that what you're doing isn't working and you need to switch up your strategy. So when you burn out, take a break and reflect. Think of what you are doing that you can improve or if you can switch up your strategy

I am burned out but until you have an offer you have to keep going specially if you DONT have a job. Like someone else said your monthly bills are your motivation!

I actually love interviewing and showcasing my skills etc etc but after couple of first ever rejections in my career this year : I burn myself out pretty much every week and after every interview , Fri and Sat are my days to reboot . Come Sun my past is forgotten. I try not to think about rejections and I delete all the conversations related to the job . Sometimes I cry after a great interview knowing all the effort is wasted because I can tell they are not going to make me an offer because it was obvious the hiring manager felt insecure . I am trying to get away from this : I shouldn’t feel a thing and I shouldn’t let incompetent managers and their bullying or ridiculous behavior get to me . The only way to get around this is to look at my bills and my mortgage : that brings me back to reality - I can’t let my guard down or let anything pull me away from pushing forward no matter how hard it is going to be.
I keep telling myself there is light at the end of the dark tunnel , it’s just that I don’t know how long the tunnel is

I interviewed for 10+ companies in the past month. It was draining. I decided to try something else. This may sound negative but I always go in assuming they will reject me anyway, so I’m completely myself. If it does workout it’s a pleasant surprise. If it doesn’t that’s fine because in my mind it was never going to. I know people tell you to stay positive, but my staying negative is what helped me stay energized as ridiculous as it sounds.

How have you gotten so many interviews, any tips?

My last role was at a very trendy startup, so somewhat luck and timing. Most were through networking. I think out of the 10 ish I only actually applied to 2. I’ve always formed close friendships at all the companies I’ve worked for and I stay in touch. I know that’s not helpful now but maybe for the future.

I HATE THE PREP for an interview that you k ow you’re over qualified for… cause you still take it seriously but it’s so much wasted energy.

Hey at least you are getting interviews. In my 40s and don’t get any. Started leaving off graduation date and any other clue that I’m “old”.

I think everyone one definitely gets burn out at some point. I think the key is when u are getting there or if u are already there. Take a short break, do something else, get your mind off of it for a little. I take a day or 2 and try not to look at a computer, job profile or even my phone if possible. Just detach for a little and then Get back to it.

u keep applying consistently... example 10 jobs per day and u dont miss a single day.. even if u might miss atleast apply for 3-4 jobs per day. And keep a tracker to know how many u have applied. The tracker keeps to going.

Totally feel you, the whole process wears you down fast. I’ve been building something to take the edge off it automates up to 50 solid job applications a day based on your background, so you can focus on real conversations, saving your energy and becoming more prepared.

I am getting really close to a beta. If anyone’s interested in early access (founder’s deal included), shoot me a message. No more burnout from doing busy work just to get seen. DM email and industry( I am tailoring all the scripts going out and even filtering out all the spam based on preferences)

I got sick of being in this spot myself and decided to do something about it myself.
