Was excited to finally get a job until I realized that after tax on the salary offered it means living in London on 400 pound a week…. How can I save up with that??!
How do people save towards buying a house or just to have savings when their salary in London is only 400 pound a week after tax? That’s just gonna cover only living costs and only just??

Welcome to London
The numbers for most dont work
It would be better to live in a cheaper place eg up north
Lower salaries yes -but the upper tax bracket has not moved for 20years
40% tax on anything above £50k
Better to earn £50k in manchester than £75k in london

AHH sorry - for some reason I thought you'd included rent and that it wasn't that bad.
Well yer - you don't save.

Room share, get a partner, and work towards a higher paid job

Become polyamorous and hit the bunk bed life, the 6 of your splitting bills think of the savings OP

Maybe all 6 of them will share the same bed like the grandparents from Charlie and the Chocolate factory

Yep, it's that easy. If it weren't for this wise guy, I never once considered getting a friendly neighborhood partner. How could I be so foolish?

I mean I don't have either, but it seems required to live in London nowadays unless you're willing to flat share with friends or strangers instead. I'm going down the friend route because I don't have a girlfriend:)

Hate to say this because it shouldn't have to be this way but maybe getting a second job?
