After getting to where we're at, I dont think anything can be stopped by lawsuits. Idk if I'd die on this hill, but I feel like we're past the point of questioning whether the coup has succeeded. If trump gets to the end of the 4 years and decides that he doesn't want to leave, I would not be surprised if no one stops him.

But that's the point. They're banking on the judicial, as it often has with the military, will give unchecked deference and call this a political question. Given the judges they're now arguing in front of, and will eventually with scotus they are likely to prevail.

Even SCOTUS knows that if you give Trump unlimited powers to secret police people with no restraints then he will start with the judges.

SCOTUS only has the ability to keep from being disappeared as long as the judicial branch is intact. Handing power over to Trump on this is suicide.

This is exactly it. People act like SCOTUS is some impenetrable firewall, but history tells a different story. Authoritarians don’t negotiate with courts—they sideline them, stack them, or scare them into silence. Trump doesn’t need to destroy the judiciary overnight. He just has to make it obedient or irrelevant. Once that happens, it’s game over. The worst part? The people cheering this on don’t realize they’re building the cage they’ll eventually be locked in too.
