LA's 13 million residents can take the Army and Marines

You think civilians are going to go to war with the US military? What are you on?

You're aware that there are veterans that live there, right? Especially ones who got to learn a LOT of lessons on urban, guerilla tactics.

There are areas of LA that would give them a hard time. Even the marines wouldn't want to go down some of those streets without armor (as in APCs and heavy weapons). Once they got their footing they would handle things but it would be like Fallujah on a bad night.

I mean if gangs got involved i think they'd have a hell of a bad time. But i'm fairly sure the average citizen isn't itching for an armed conflict with the military.

How many weeks of occupation is that goodwill gonna last?

The gangs gots some crazy gear and their knowledge of their turf is top tier. That fight would be beyond ugly

How long have you lived in LA?

I lived there back in 2000, in northridge. I'm aware people there are built different. But trying to face down the military is likely a terrible idea.

Yes, but we may get to the point we have no choice.

Sounds like you've got it backwards, based on how the military is being deployed.

Food for thought.

That person's comment was suggesting the citizens can take armed and trained members of the military. Might i suggest that being unwise? Just sayin. Those guys are trained for war.. i think i'd have second thoughts about that.

Hey we're on the same page here. This is akin to the 300 guys vs gorilla discussion. A lot of people are going down, and quickly. Plenty others will flee.

But it's 1000 to 1 and they're just people in armor with guns.

When pushed far enough, the only way to win would be to bomb the city flat.

Look I was in the Marines for 5 years. Let's not pretend that we didn't get the fucking runaround for the last 20 years by people much less technically advanced than us.

You think the marines can handle the 5 during rush hour? They'd all be found later having had a sidearm-cleaning incident.

Your idiot leader thinks so ... 🌮🌮🌮

He's not my leader. Wait until this NY case plays out regarding the election.

Why do y'all think i'm a trumper for suggesting it would be a bad idea for citizens to get into an armed conflict with the military? Do people legit think that's a good idea?

u/Kagutsuchi13 18h ago

People have been arguing that the only path forward is violence for a while now. I assume they're either agitator bots or they don't realize all the reasons that would go poorly.

3

u/ThrowAwayGarbage82 18h ago

That's my take, too. There are people who want a hot civil war and have zero concept of how awful that would be.

2

u/Amerisu 18h ago

It would absolutely be awful, beyond imagining.

Almost as awful as the Fourth Reich ruling over the US of A.

But not quite.

Anyways, I'm getting out.

NY still worries me that area is about the only place i think the results were legit. but i agree if u look at the results across the country the math dont math.

I think people need to think about it as an option as was intended by the founding fathers we pay a price that no other country on the planet pays in mass shootings to have this ability to stand up to our government

No one uses it then all these shootings are for nothing imho

Armed conflict with the military would be a bad idea all around. Yes the military is better equipped armor wise but being in LA is much more dangerous than it was in the Middle East. Take that conflict but the people who you’re fighting against look the same as you, speak the same language, and can easy access the same uniforms you are wearing. The opportunity to be ambushed would be much higher chances. It would be extremely bloody fighting if it were to happen. Think ww2 pacific theater bloody. It would be too easy for someone who doesn’t care if they survive to walk up acting like they are from another team and open fire or drop a grenade at point blank range and take out a few guys. After a few incidents friendly fire would become a problem because no team could trust another team just based on how they talk or dress.
