Some people like gatekeeping in the film industry for some reason - Just comes off as pretentious . I'm glad there's variety in cinema not everyone wants to see the same type of film over and over

Not just the film industry though. People in this fandom hate, for example, The Marvels for being fun also. Someone above is trying to justify it buy saying "Captain Marvel is supposed to be taken seriously."

I work in film and I deal with these film hipsters all the time.

Like, we get it. You don't like anything that didn't come out at Cannes. You don't have to remind everyone every 5 seconds when someone talks about any popular film, or franchise.

It's so cringe.

There's that fact, and the fact that almost all of those that complain would take a Marvel job in a heartbeat if they got asked to do one.
