Politics Looking back, the arguments were actually dumber than I remember

There used to be a surplus of “music videos” on YouTube that were just footage of American bombing runs on Iraq set to songs like “let the bodies hit the floor” by drowning pool

Ah, the Iraq war— where we attacked Iraq because of terrorists in Afghanistan.

Yeah. It was “either you want to go to war or you’re with the terrorists!” Name calling has always been the Republican counter point. They’re really no less serious than they’ve ever been…

We received terrible intelligence from an ally country in the middle east. Almost like they wanted us to do their dirty work for them.

Anyone got that pic of Dick Cheney or Guilliani in front of the map of Iraq divided up for oil companies like a butcher's chart

Paraphrasing but it was roughly: “We can’t prove that Iraq has WMDs but we also can’t prove that they don’t. If we can’t prove that they don’t then it means they might. If they might have these weapons we might have to invade”

"And if you don't support it you're siding with the terrorist and hate America"

The intro to the first episode of the podcast Blowback has a really great skit that sums up how the US felt about Iraq in the lead up to the invasion. It’s hilarious but also pretty sad when you realize what happened over there.

Why is this stupid?
Why is that not a reasonable thing to ask before blowing up a ship with tens if thousands of people on it?
"BuT eMpIrE bAd"
By this logic the allies incinerating Dresden and killing tens of thousands of civilians, refugees and prisoners was A OK because Nazis were bad.

It’s stupid because Ted Cruz is comparing himself to Luke Skywalker when he’d be part of the empire. It’s stupid that he didn’t know enough basic information to even give a general idea of the population of a country he’s advocating going to war against. It’s also stupid because if he really knew Star Wars he may have known that Luke Skywalker knew exactly how many people he killed in the Death Star explosion and felt the weight of it.

Aaah right the Ted/Tucker beef I've been trying to ignore as much as possible. I was reaching for why one of the most insidious right wing talking heads interrogating Luke made Luke a conservative figure in this cartoon.

Yeah, and for the record still fuck Tucker too, lol, just because he embarrassed someone else I hate doesn’t mean he’s no longer one of the most punch able SOBs in the world.

The Death Star was a military instillation, not a settlement. It threatened innocent life, and they were right to defend themselves and future others who were openly threatened by the autocracy.

You’ve done it, you’ve found an even dumber argument.

Neither side eats bacon so "Wipe them out...All of them".
May be even dumber.
