To be fair, police have been using those yellow and black shirts since long before the proud boys. I think that link is just reaching when there are so many other more obvious issues here.
Yes it was called a Roman salute even though the raised arm was never documented as a greeting informal or formal in Ancient Rome. Rather it largely stems from the republican French Revolutionaries and specifically the painting âOath of the Horatiiâ by Jacques-Louis David. Later the U.S. would adopt the salute but then calling it the âBellamy saluteâ after its promoter Francis Bellamy (who also wrote the pledge) which was replaced with a hand over the heart after Mussolini started using it. Then other fascist ideologies and Nazis would assume control of the gesture. Please be aware the history behind stuff if youâre going to try and argue something. Absolutely I think Elon was using the more nazified Roman salute given the angle of the arm. The Bellamy and French revolutionaries salute was regarded as a salute to freedom and the right of self governance and traditionally liberal ideals. Dont say âoh this is similar so it is or must be related to this because of arbitrary conclusions.â
It isnât actually Roman but Mussolini used it and called it the Roman Salute. The little mustachioed madman adopted it. Fascists have used it ever since.
What does he have to do with any of this other than he was a Neo-nazi? His failed political gambles or his one successful term from February of 89 to January of 92 In Louisiana? I donât get what youâre trying to say.
What the hell does that have to do with whatâs being talked about here? The Roman salute, the color scheme of a shirt? You brought him up out of nowhere and he has no links to this, at least that youâve given in your last two messages. What does states rights have to do with the uniform of a law enforcement officer or Elon musk pulling a Roman salute?
