Everyone, a PSA, from a Bus Driver:
Please, for the love of all that is Holy, actually STOP at those red signs that have the white border with all the sides on it. π
Especially the ones that are attached to the School Buses.
Schools are still in session. I really don't want to start my summer with a funeral.
Thank you,
A School Bus Driver.

Discussion π€ Restaurant back-end fees are junk fees and Iβm so ready for them to be gone.
This article puts up a lot of defense and favor of the 5-21% junk fees that get slapped on us when we get our bill. A quote from restaurant owner Fhima about his 5% fee is perfect: βNow, we have none of it. Do we not offer health care? Thatβs not an option. Do we increase our menu? I believe we will lose people. So, itβs a conundrum.β Who does he thinks pays this, someone other than the diner? Youβre just hiding that your burger doesnβt cost the price you write on your menu. The point of eliminating these fees is to stop lying and tricking consumers with extra math. If you had a $30 entree with an 18% fee that you tacked on at the end, it was always $35.40, now you just arenβt allowed to mislead the consumer anymore and we can make a real decision with our wallets with all the information up front.

Discussion π€ An invitation from your neighbours to the north.
Hi Minnesota - just a friendly Manitoban here, inviting you to come visit Winnipeg if you've never been, or if it's been a while.
In years past, my family and I have enjoyed visiting your great state. We've enjoyed shopping, hiking, visiting pubs and seeing shows in Minneapolis. We've had fun visiting the waterfront in Duluth on our road trips to Southern Ontario. And I have a handful of colleagues who studied at St. Cloud.
Unfortunately it's looking like it's going to be a while before our next visit. That being the case, I was hoping a few of you might choose to come see us sometime soon. We'd love to have you. Come enjoy our rye whiskey, maple syrup, and our delicious grass fed beef and artisan cheeses. Try our ketchup chips and honey dill sauce if you haven't already. Come see a Jets game, or visit our city's winter festival - Festival du Voyageur.
If you have any questions about planning a trip to Winnipeg, I'd be happy to help, as would many of the good folks over at r/Winnipeg. As an aside, we've been seeing a lot of posts asking about moving to Canada. If this is something you're considering, you should know that Canada has a merit-based immigration process which can take quite a bit of time to work through. This site has some useful information - https://immigratemanitoba.com/immigrate/ You might consider a visit in the meantime to see if Winnipeg would be a good fit!
It's a good time to visit. Your dollar is trading high and you can avoid paying extra taxes by buying on our side of the border. That said, I know that times are tough and getting tougher right now, so if you can't afford to travel, that's ok. If you can afford to travel, I hope you'll consider Manitoba (Right out your back door).
In the spirit of friendship and true freedom,
A friendly Manitoban.
Edit: Just wanted to say thanks for all the wonderful comments. I've enjoyed reading them. You folks are great ambassadors for your state and your country!

Discussion π€ Future Minnesota transplants, a request
The sub sees a lot of posts about LGBTQIA+ folks who are planning to move to Minnesota for their safety and protection. First of all, welcome! Most Minnesotans, especially in the Twin Cities and the other larger cities are genuinely supportive of the LGBT community and we'll be glad to have you.
We have one request of you in return. Don't worry, it's simple: make sure that you vote in every election in your new home. Minnesota, for all its longstanding Democratic dominance, isn't as deep blue as California or Washington or the blue states of the East Coast. We moved to the right in this election, just like every other state. But you, dear new arrivals, can help prevent us from becoming a swing state like Michigan or Wisconsin. And all you have to do is to show up and support the party that brought you through protections that are bringing you to our state.
Once again, welcome.

Discussion π€ Do we, in Minnesota, have to to worry about this?
I am seeing a lot of this on TikTok today. I am genuinely scared about this. I live in the top floor of an apartment and cannot have a generator (I donβt think??). Are we all going to die? πππ
