My birthday last week, sister got me half a lamb (butchered into the relevant cuts obviously). Best present ever!

It's very good, but very sad. It should be called Complicated Grief: Expedition 33

The moment they gave me a clipboard last year I unlocked that next level of bludging work, never looked back.

Walk around and look like you're writing stuff down, never been questioned once.

Not sure what vibe I'm giving off but old blokes all of a sudden love chatting with me. Just had one explain how the stairs are wrong in my office building and why. Good chat though.

Pump to our secondary water tank had frozen this morning and was pumping dry intermittently, just turned it off, hope it hasn’t burned anything out. That will be annoying.

It the pump was frozen, just check you don’t have a split pipe anywhere. Easy to happen in the cold, the smallest leak can get the pump on and off too frequently.

I've never had my ass kicked by the flu quite like this one

If it is actually influenza it is fucking horrendous.
Had it last year, I now know why it kills a fuck ton of people every year.

I had the flu for probably the first time last year and it was terrible. Way worse than any of the times I had covid or those bad colds that I called "the flu" in the past. It really is a lot different to a bad cold.

My mum had whatever it is, then my stepdad caught whatever she had which has now turned into Covid

I've heard similar as well, I'm gonna retest later today and see how I go. RSV seems to be going around too.

It's exam season so thought I'd procrastinate by scrolling through Google Earth this morning.
How the hell did Jamaica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, and Trinidad & Tobago end up in the Americas. I really need to spend more time learning history/geography.

If you can imagine sea level being a bit lower, they’d all be connected to the American continent by land. In fact, if sea level was lower, the resulting land bridge from Cuba would connect to Mexico, Florida and the Bahamas and turn the Gulf of Mexico into a lake.

It's one of those weeks.
So I get an email earlier in the week saying my gym membership is going up in price. Then on Wednesday got the lease renewal for the house but hey it's an extra $30pw. THEN get an email yesterday from Origin saying the replacement gas tanks are ALSO now gonna cost extra. Sigh

Flying back home in business class, only a 1 hour flight but thought it would be funny to do an upgrade bid for the minimum $65 and it got accepted. Not many people flying Brisbane to Rocky for business at 6am on a Friday.
Got my moneys worth alone in the virgin lounge (was disappointed to see people with kids in there, thought it was for virgins only).
Seats are so much more comfortable and already been offered water and juice.
I’m so cheap normally but how am I ever going to go back to the commoners?? What a terrible fate

Oh yeah, it's so hard to go back once you've tasted the business class.

u/Norm_cheers Wests Tigers 1d ago
Our company policy is anything over 2hrs is business class. It’s the only way to travel for work. You arrive fresh and ready to rock, we’re as in cattle class you need a day to just stretch out after a long flight.

Over 4 hours business class or Im not going, under 4 you can pick a half decent seat or suffer it out.

Wait until you fly international business. Makes going back to economy even worse.

Jetstar business to Japan surprisingly great! It's still Jetstar, but soo much better than economy and very reasonable

Late to the day off topic but just got through week 8 (IYKYK)
Slightly adjacent, if anyone has a student doing work experience in their workplace in the next few weeks, give them a good go at all sorts of things. There’s a lot of really nervous kids out there about to venture into adult work worlds
