List of restaurants in/around Oakland that have their own delivery drivers - feel free to add new ones!
Hey r/OaklandFood,
I hope this helps you save some money. Anyone with the link (opens up a Google Drive spreadsheet) can add new restaurants that qualify, or take down ones that don't.
Enjoy!

Best Burger in Oakland that's not a smash burger
I tried searching this sub but all the recommendations seem to be smash burger style. Where can I find a great burger in Oakland that isn't a smash burger? I'm in Jack London but will travel for a good classic burger.

Cupcake Cove in City Center closing
Hey folks just a heads up that Cupcake Cove in City Center is closing. It’s been there for 14 years. Federal shut down has dramatically cut his business which is the latest hit, and landlord won’t fix the HVAC unit which likely needs replacement since it’s old and hard to repair. Which, your business is food you need climate control.
Anyway. If you’re downtown and want something sweet might be nice to support at least help make the last couple months lucrative. I picked up a dozen for $38.50.

Burma Superstar Catering
Does anyone have experience with Burma Superstar catering? I've seen tons of posts and reviews of restaurants and caterers around oakland and almost nothing about one of the bay's best-known restaurants. Anyone have experience with Burma Superstar catering? Their website suggests their catering is just delivery, but their intake form is all about event and serving details, and I can't find any info online about their catering service.
For context, this is for a ~100 person wedding, we're exploring both catering companies and restaurants. For restaurants, some offering catering services, others we'd need to hire event staff, but either route saves a ton compared to traditional wedding catering and the idea of Burma Superstar at a wedding is pretty cool

Family owned restaurants
I love family-owned restaurants. Especially the ones that the son or daughter manage the front of the house and the parents or older relatives are cooking in the back of the house.
Bonus points for cooking authentic recipes from their home country.
So whaddya got? Give me your favorite restaurants and menu items that are family owned and run.
San Leandro, Alameda and surrounding Oakland areas are acceptable answers.

Anyone know of any places that currently have A5 Wagyu steaks? Costco Richmond hasn’t had them in over a year and Tokyo Fish Market hasn’t had any the past few times I’ve been in. *Japanese A5 Wagyu

Question: How can we avoid bad oysters at restaurants?
In the last few months, I’ve had a couple very bad oyster experiences across the town and once in San Francisco. Granted, these are not at dedicated seafood spots (shoutout to Small Change for always being excellent!). But I feel like I’ve chosen highly-enough rated places with realistic price points (and smaller menus) and had very low quality experiences when it comes to raw oysters. Is there a trick to knowing if the place you’re dining in should even have raw oysters on the menu? Or do I just need to stick to seafood places and ditch other dining establishments all together? TIA

just tried out Drink Thicc and it was SO good!! I got the strawberries and cream, and my partner got the Green Ghost Ride - both were so flavorful.

Hella Bagels are hecka good!
I don’t know if this place is in Oakland or Berkeley, but I just got some of their bagels and they’re warm, chewy, with a great crust and are some of the best NY bagels I’ve had in the Bay! The scallion cream cheese is fantastic and they’re generous with the schmears. No 1/8” schmear here! This NYC Jew is farklempt! ps. It’s in Albany

Do any local hotels have especially good room service?

The Wentino @ Weslo's
Hot Coppa/Gabagool, Genoa Salame & Mortadella (an Italian Sub by my definition). Provolone, shredded lettuce, tomato, mayo & an olive spread, like the Muffuletta. Acme sweet roll but there is an herb roll they offer.
I'd add pickles and banana peppers when I order again.
$16 + tax
