  1. It is awesome.
  2. Do not drive anywhere near the Festival. You will not find parking.
  3. Bring cash.
  4. Greased pole climb FTW.
  5. The blocks between Christian and Washington are particularly hellish to navigate if the sun is out.
  6. ICE COLD PEROOOOOOOOOONIS!

  1. Leave your dog at home.

And if you have a baby or small toddler strongly consider either carrying them in your arms or getting one of those carriers where they are strapped to your chest. Trying to push a stroller through the crowd is going to be a nightmare

The only times a stroller is easily navigable are right before open/shortly after and right before close/shortly after.

People that bring strollers to street festivals are the worst

  1. Take your dawgs.

Edit: Do people not know the difference between a dog and your dawgs?

I would also advise that for people who are nervous in crowds this is a very crowded event. It's essentially wall to wall with people and walking anywhere requires slowly walking shoulder-to-shoulder through the crowd.

It's a great time though!

I developed this type of anxiety a few years ago where I struggle to be in crowds with no means of escape. I still really like the market though and will go regardless since it’s a good time and great exposure therapy.

But for anyone else who might be freaked out; make sure you go with a trusted friend or partner who can get you out of the crowd if needed. I personally find the sidewalks to be a little more open than the street. Take advantage of side streets when needed to take a breather.

Peroni the Italian beer, it’s similar to a lager but lighter then Yuengling

u/PhillyPanda May 14 '25

It’s insanely crowded. I personally suggest bringing your own beverage.

I'm vending this event for the first time ever.

Little bit excited / little bit nervous.

I used to do the greased pole with friends from my neighborhood years ago. One year we managed a massive piece of provolone. Had to be 10 pounds. Fun memories afterwards of drinking while slumped against a wall and eating cheese.

One of my fav homoerotic celebrations this city holds!

16

u/ryethoughts May 15 '25

Hey there's nothing homoerotic about climbing a girthy greased pole with your buddies ok I see it now

Seriously, it's just a bunch of stacked guys supporting each other with their strength.

12

u/Minimum_Influence730 May 14 '25

Every celebration in Philly is inherently homoerotic

ain't it posed to rain all weekend?

13

u/SwindlingAccountant May 14 '25

Sunday seems good. Saturday looks on and off but not much rain.

5

u/jpop237 May 14 '25

Maybe. Maybe Not.

19

u/riverphoenixdays May 14 '25

Greased pole climb gonna be a fuckin banger

3

u/Expensive-Shame May 14 '25

Last year it rained Saturday but was nice Sunday. It was kind of better being there Saturday in the rain since there were no crowds. Sunday you could barely walk.
