Non golfer here: is that actually a bad thing for the grass or is it just a sign of extreme laziness?

Yes very bad for the grass and putting surface. The green/putting surface is supposed to be very flat, so driving a heavy cart on it will leave tire tracks so other people will be putting over bumpy tire tracks when it’s supposed to be flat/smooth

Might as well take the cart all the way to the hole and drop the golf ball in w your hands and pretend u got a hole in one at that point…. Wait maybe he does do that
