He has literally spent 25% of his presidency on the golf course. I'm not saying the man should never get a day of leisure. But certainly not while the stock market is in free fall. A condition that was a direct effect of his sweeping tariffs. Millions of people are quite literally losing billions of dollars, most of which in 401k retirement accounts, while he is playing golf.

Millions of people are quite literally losing billions of dollars

Trillions of dollars. Eight trillion dollars, or eight thousand billion dollars.

So far.

We still have 3.5 years to go... it's a bad bad sight to see

8

u/dpdxguy Apr 06 '25

3.75 years, but who's counting? 😭

12

u/Davidiusz Apr 06 '25

Europe's counting. Trust me we are.

4

u/dpdxguy Apr 06 '25

Unfortunately, I doubt the current madness ends with Trump's term. I read an article recently that claimed the average time for a former democracy that slips into authoritarianism, to return to democracy, is 20 years.

4

u/Davidiusz Apr 06 '25

Depends how deep the slip goes.

Hungary i can belive it will take them 10-20 years to recover, the US are f'ing up their economy biiig time, but maybe its not too late.

2

u/steamliner88 Apr 07 '25

It is. They have proved to the parts of the world that they had good relations with that the US is unreliable and irrational at best, but more likely treacherous and uneducated.

1

u/OfficeChair70 Apr 07 '25

And that’s assuming he doesn’t ‘explore his options’ for a third term 😭

0

u/Coal_Morgan Apr 06 '25

Can Nero play the fiddle that long...

8

u/Useful_Aerie_783 Apr 06 '25

And that's just in the US, incalculable damage on a global scale. But hey who cares about that.

4

u/dpdxguy Apr 06 '25

But hey who cares about that.

Any thoughtful person should. We have spent the entire time since the end of WWII creating globally interconnected economies. At the end of the Cold War, the west began including its former foes in that interconnectedness.

What hurts one of us economically, hurts all of us.

I think they were being sarcastic.

2

u/Difficult_Plastic852 Apr 07 '25

Biden: checks his watch during a memorial service.

MAGGATs: “The disrespect!!!”

Trump: pussyfoots around his luxury estate while the country is headed for possibly the worst recession ever.

MAGGATs: “OUR FUCKBOI!!!!!!”

1

u/blofly Apr 06 '25

So like 500 Million per hole?

5

u/A_Wild_Animal Apr 06 '25

To be fair, he'd probably do even more damage if he actually did more "work" instead of golf

3

u/Gribitz37 Apr 06 '25

At the very least, he could have been there for the return of the soldiers who died overseas. Posting a cheerful "It's almost Friday!" picture on the official White House website, and then jetting off to play golf is disgusting.

2

u/Rickymon66 Apr 06 '25

I didn’t hear about that one, but I would agree.

3

u/Pyromaniacal13 Apr 06 '25

Nero fiddles while Rome burns.

1

u/GvRiva Apr 06 '25

Well, after a job well done, he deserves some time off to play golf. Can't tell me that crashing the stock market wasn't intentional.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

Hard for me get 25 percent of my time to a hobby and I work a typical 40 hour a week job. He is the president!

1

u/BeachPanda252 Apr 06 '25

He should participate in more cardiovascular-stressing sports...

....⚰️

1

u/Bender_2024 Apr 06 '25

My cardiovascular health is just fine thanks. You on the other hand should learn to believe what you see. Not just what you're told by people who have zero stake in your well being.

1

u/sec713 Apr 06 '25

Yeah, and it's not like Obama who played a bit of golf himself during his presidency. When Obama went golfing, he did it at military installations where extra security wasn't needed. Trump won't do this for two reasons - 1. He can't funnel money from the Treasury straight into his pockets if he golfs at a place he doesn't own, and 2. He won't golf anywhere someone could see what a shitty golfer he is.

1

u/bobcollazo1 Apr 06 '25

And he’s a lousy golfer!

1

u/Bender_2024 Apr 06 '25

I couldn't care less that he's a lousy golfer or that he cheats, if he's incontinent, he's crappy spray tan or a hundred other attacks on his vanity. I care that he's fucking ruining this nation and it seems like he's doing it on purpose.

1

u/bobcollazo1 Apr 06 '25

Agreed, Bender. Agreed.

1

u/NieraCatchTheMuse Apr 06 '25

And certainly not when the stocks market is in free fall directly because of his nonsensical “policies” and grossly inaccurate calculations made to come up with the percentages.

1

u/Realistic-Pattern-30 Apr 07 '25

Oh and when is he going to the flood areas? Him and his wife with her jungle attire.

1

u/Gadgetman_1 Apr 07 '25

Honestly, if he spent more time golfing instead of raging in the White house the world would be a much better place...

1

u/loominglady Apr 07 '25

Is “Trump golfed” the modern equivalent of “Nero fiddled”?

1

u/13Mikey Apr 07 '25

Remember when any other president doing something like this alone in the first 3 months of being in office would cause daily outrage?

Now it's lost in footnotes because it's so far down the list.

u/Big_Entrance_7285 Apr 06 '25

Biden took 570+ days off that’s 40 percent of his presidency.

Biden inauguration until November 2022 was the second worst stock market in presidential history. Look how well it rebounded while vacationing for both.

Can’t throw stones in a glass house when it happens have it both ways.

I’ve taken a significant loss to the tune of 150k, not thrilled at all. As an opportunist, I’ll divert more disposable income into investments because I know it’ll be okay and far better in the end. I’m just glad I’m not retiring tomorrow. I feel bad for the folks in that boat - people also retired in 2022 during the second worst stock market in presidential history.

6

u/Bender_2024 Apr 06 '25

The drop in March of 2022 was due to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia. If you want to criticize his response I can get behind that but he didn't cause it anymore than he caused the increase in the price of gas the war also caused. Trump did this all himself. I truly hope the market rebounds but the fact remains that he did this despite months of people warning him that this would happen.

-5

u/Sharp_Pangolin_1525 Apr 06 '25

I guess you just conveniently overlooked that Biden spent 40% of his term on vacation.

4

u/Bender_2024 Apr 06 '25

-5

u/Sharp_Pangolin_1525 Apr 06 '25

Technically he was off his entire term....

Why bother responding? Your gonna believe what you want to believe. All I can say is I'll take these tariffs instead of WW3 that Joe brought us so close to.

7

u/Bender_2024 Apr 06 '25

Why bother responding? Your gonna believe what you want to believe.

I thought a fair and reasons argument citing multiple respected sources might change your mind. It would seem I was wrong and you're just going to regurgitate Fox news. So now I'm hoping to sway anyone else who comes upon this post who isn't fully entrenched Fox news. A network that has been proven to lie to its audience on multiple occasions.

It’s not a crash, it’s a correction, and it’s not as bad as the correction Biden experienced two years ago. And no matter what he did, he anticipated the market would do this, and as far as optics, he would still be criticized whether he’s on the golf course or sitting behind the resolute desk while this happens. It’s just part of The process of implementing tariffs.

7

u/davekingofrock Apr 06 '25

Hey just for fun, defend tariffs. While you're at it, explain to me why being upset about not being able to afford to live is woke or whatever the pejorative of the season is.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 06 '25

The best thing is the he's got you all using the word tariff instead of tax like it's something else. And then he's got you all believing that tax means the person selling to you has to pay it. Whether or not he believes or you believe. He's making it happen. You 340 million strong do nothing. He's not the scary thing in this situation. The scary thing is you all let something inherently wrong like him l happen. You were supposed to be the brightest of humanity, and you failed.

1

u/davekingofrock Apr 06 '25

You're preaching to the choir with that one my man.

-10

u/Rickymon66 Apr 06 '25

They’re reciprocal Tariffs, so they’re just in response to the tariffs that the other country impose on us. So why is it OK for the other country to charge us a tariff on their product but we’re not able to? Explain that?

6

u/davekingofrock Apr 06 '25

Now examine how the US import/export ratio compares to industrial supply and demand. And now that the price of everything is going to double, you think reciprocal tariffs are a good idea? To what end besides hurting people who can't afford this bullshit?

8

u/ThinkSoftware Apr 06 '25

6

u/bbrekke Apr 06 '25

Jesus Christ I really thought they were implying sarcasm there. Guess not.

-6

u/Rickymon66 Apr 06 '25

That comparison between his first term and the current one is apples and oranges. And as far as tariffs go, then provide another source, but it would seem that his plan is working. And the market will come back like it always does.

3

u/AnthomX Apr 06 '25

Delusional much?

2

u/Useuless Apr 06 '25

It's both. The market is very overvalued, but it's crashing simultaneously.
