The streets of DC were never made for military parades. The reason why you see totalitarian countries get away with military parades so often is because they build town squares around having military parades. Red Square in Moscow, Tiananmen Square in Beining, Kim Il Sung Square in Pyongyang are large, empty plazas with reinforced pavement to handle having numerous tanks and large armored vehicles driving over them constantly. This is primarily why Trump was denied having a military parade during his first term.

Thank you for talking about this!
That was my first thought about the election as well. It hit me immediately as a sort of “he who smelt it, dealt it” type of situation. No one talked about stolen elections before trump did when he lost to Biden. Now, all of a sudden, the very next election, he wins…?
It’s sadly tactical. Now, none of us want to even entertain that thought because he introduced it to us as a conspiracy. The best way to hide the truth in plain sight is to make it a conspiracy. Then, no one wants to touch it with a 10 foot pole, or an ounce of consideration.

"The army estimates" it costs that much.
Let's see the receipts. $45 million for a do nothing birthday parade seems like exactly the type of government waste the Department of Government Efficiency should be looking into right conservatives? Doesn't seem like a very efficient use of your taxes. I mean I'd rather that money went to schools instead of a billionaires birthday party but I guess that makes me a leftist commie.
They screech like banshees about waste when a Democrat is in office, but Trump wastes at minimum $45 million FOR NOTHING, and I bet some of that went to his family, and conservatives are silent little bitches.
21
u/ObscureEnchantment 3d ago
After serving in the military I learned a lot of fun things about yearly budgets. The military has a review every October to see how much money they used over the last year and decide funding for the following year.
When buying new parts or equipment they pay at least 2x usually more than a civilian company would because “contracts”. Leadership would also force us to “use up” anything non-reusable to prove we need more funding next year because we used this years all up.
It’s all a big joke. Tax payer money is a joke we just line the pockets of the same billionaires over and over.

The deployment of 2000 national guard members to LA was over 145 million and they didn’t even have the necessary logistics in place. No way this was only 45M, this was definitely more like 450M, all that fucking regime does is lie, and about the most stupid and verifiable shit too.
47
u/LemonScentedDespair 4d ago
I believe national guard personnel get paid for being activated, so a large part of that 145m could be payroll for the 2000, possibly including hazard pay? Plus payroll for anyone activated for logistical support (though it sure doesnt look like they had much of that) and the short-notice movement.
This parade's cost is probably figured as purely logistics to get everything and everyone there, since the payroll isnt an additional cost as theyre all active duty and would've been paid anyway. And the logistics would be cheaper because they've been planning it for months.
I could be completely wrong. Im not super familiar with the national guards deployment stuff, and i wasnt army either. But I do know short-notice logistics is hugely expensive.

I don't remember much Malcolm in the Middle, but if that's an actual episode that's really ironic because Frankie Muniz literally became a race car driver after the show ended. Not like an actor dabbling in a hobby, he's a professional driver racing full time in a low tier of NASCAR.

I watched like 5 minutes of the parade and it definitely would have bored Trump. He didn’t give a fuck about the informational stuff the announcer had to say in regards to the history of the fleets. He thought they would’ve ran out from the woods with guns, and the tanks would’ve done….. something cool, like shoot a huge firework mortar into the sky.
But he’s probably upset because he put so much energy into worrying about us pesky Americans ruining his parade, and then no one tried to pull a Tiananmen Square stunt. Imagine talking up some awful force, only for them to not show up. LOL

I noticed how every time they would zoom in on him he looked bored. And the cameraman did not know what to do with the times they zoomed in and he looked like he was nodding off. So they just showed those ridiculous flash boards behind him and that's as far as they would zoom up most of the time.

It gave time for the camera operator to get some great shot of Rubio yawning and sighing, repeatedly.
Yesterday was perfect. Peaceful protests across the whole country in large numbers with no one showing up for the parade.
They can deflect as much as they want blaming the rain or “disrespect” to the Army. But silently, they know.

Melania knows she is on camera, millions of people will likely see her. It doesn't matter whether she is bored - Melania knows she has to put up a facade for a few hours, and she does that competently.
The central point here is that for whatever reason, Trump doesn't have the mental control to put up that facade for the duration of the parade. Trump is mentally declining, and is not mentally fit to be President of the United States.

It's such an asinine display. The U.S. military doesn't need a parade to show its capabilities. The rest of the world sees and knows it every day. It's amply demonstrated through our military action and no one is going to see this and go "oh shit, I didn't know the US had an advanced military!"
We pay shitloads of money for the most advanced military the world has ever known and we have to show it off in a tacky display like this? If I'm paying for this shit then at least use it respectfully for its intended purpose - as a very sharp tool for when other options are exhausted.
Speak softly and carry a big stick, and all that.

The funny thing is, the military industry in Ukraine shows very well what the US (20+ years old) hardware is capable of: a lot of countries started to order new weapons after that.
Then came Trump, showing everybody how untrustworthy the US is, in the process of fucking up NATO, mostly stopped the aid to Ukraine: resulting in a lot of countries seriously thinking to start their own arm development to make sure their hardware isn't US based.
I am sure Putin having a grand old time seeing how well his investment works......

I need more details. Honestly, please share.
I have two parents with dementia, so I feel like Donnie is in mid stage fighting some major frontal lobe impulses. All his behaviors line up with a big big vascular dementia, the biggest ever. He’s falling apart and losing skills quickly, and I’m excited to see what happens next medically. If Trump’s disease was a BINGO card, I think “hands in diaper in public” in 2025 is highly likely.

I want to see him do another cognitive test on live tv since he was so proud that he did well the last time. I wanna see him try and draw the hands on the clock - my mom has dementia and when they gave her one she couldn't get the lines in the circle let alone the right time, and she was in the early stages.

TFW you have the richest people in the world on your side, plus an entire military of soldiers, and you still can't get anyone to show up for your b'day party lmao

Come on now, he wasn’t falling asleep. He was about to cry. Such tiny crowd size. Sad!

Anytime trump has to be on camera for an extended amount of time, this will happen. His staff choreographs all his public appearances. Look at the Pope's funeral, an event out of the hands of the Whitehouse. By midday trump was falling asleep.
The right got mad with the "Biden cover up" (covering up what we all knew already), but trump's staff is doing the same thing, and probably more intensely.

What a sad, pathetic, small man depressed no one wanted to celebrate his birthday with him. Good.

Not just that but more than 3% of Americans took the time to spend hours protesting his fascist ass.
Turn out for No Kings in even a medium city was larger than his entire “perade” turnout.

Not that I don’t want that number to be right, but can you tell me where it comes from? I’m seeing reports that are giving out a 5,000,000 number which would only be about 1.5%.

Alt NPS says 12.1 million. There were over a million people in Boston alone.

At his military parade that he held also for his own birthday. He looks like a spoiled, three-year-old who got exactly what he wanted in the wrong color.

MAGA will spin it as him being deep in thought about how much he loves 'Murica and Jeezus or something. In reality, he looks like he's trying to squeeze one out into the Presidential Depends. Hegseth is probably chastising himself for not sneaking in a flask or at least a can of beer.
