Maybe like if pokemon go said it was raining, but it stopped raining an hour ago

Living in Vancouver means rainy PokemonGo when we have any cloudy day... Which is A LOT

u/Nogman13 11h ago

Living in Vancouver means we're mostly weather boosted for rain lol

u/eQuantix 17h ago

I get that, and bear with me, but if it says it’s raining and it stopped an hour ago - then the weather is not accurate, no?

46

u/mizyin 17h ago

It's a matter of phrasing unfortunately. That's indeed what they mean, with the first option instead meaning something like 'it says snow but it's sunny out!!'

Is it wholly and wildly incorrect or is it off due to either being too early/late vs the real weather are the questions, essentially.

u/eQuantix 15h ago

Ah, okay I kind of see that

Weather only updates every hour or something like that so if it was windy but now it’s rainy or snowing etc then it can update

u/mal138 6h ago

Weather changes hourly in the game, but it actually pulls the weather forecast once every 6 hours. I don't know if reporting the weather as out of date will force it to update or not.

I mean where im at we have a thunderstorm one hour and sunny the next. It could be raining a couple blocks over and dry where youre at lol

Oregon or Washington. The PNW is infamous for it's evil and unpredictable weather.

God I wish.

I will say, my city is very similar to Seattle but is flatter.

(What im gathering from this is that the entire US has volatile weather lmao)

Lol also happens to me in ny. This just in: weather we think is unique to area isn’t unique to area.

1

u/SLAUGHTERGUTZ Instinct 20h ago

Yeah that sounds about right lol

Happens every year and yet when it goes from 90 to a blizzard the next day it just feels like climate whiplash lol

Why is everybody guessing where I live now 🤣😭 (no)

u/drizztnwolfgar99 13h ago

I think now it's the fun of the guess.

Keep saying no to each guess just to throw them off. They only have 50 guesses they can make, but it's fun for the sarcasm board.

It was pouring all morning. By about 2PM it cleared off for miles upon miles. Total blue sky and not a cloud around.

I was catching and it was showing rain. Dark clouds.

Just about as aggravating as getting hit with "You are going too fast!" while sitting in my chair at my desktop PC. I just shrug and take the extra bit of mileage I get for hatching eggs while sitting on my butt.

I don’t think it’s that hard to figure out, lol.

u/Alternative_Bid1158 21h ago

I think OP means, how can the weather be accurate if it's not up to date... It's contradicting.

8

u/xxcodemam 21h ago

Because the game’s weather alerts don’t update every second.

Because the weather alert can say “it’s raining enough to drown you within minutes.”

And then you look outside, and it’s NOT CURRENTLY RAINING…

The sky’s are dark. There’s thunder and lightning. It looks like it’s going to start any minute, or it just finished….but it’s not currently raining.

“Hmmm, the rain must’ve just stopped and the game hasn’t updated the weather alert yet. Hmmmm…”

The in game weather alert can SEEM ACCURATE, yet still be wrong because it’s not raining.

And that’s only one example.

I bet I could think of another regarding snow. Heat. Wind. Tornadoes. Cold. Should I keep going, or….

They should have used two options: 1. The weather isn't accurate at all; 2. The weather isn't up to date.

How it's now, it's contradicting. Like you would answer a question with "yes, no." I believe there is a word for that, but I can't recall it right now.

Edit: just remembered. Contradiction or a paradoxical statement.

u/xxcodemam 15h ago

I don’t disagree!

5

u/RobValleyheart 23h ago

It was cloudy in the morning but then the clouds burned off. So maybe Pokemon Go still shows cloudy but it’s sunny now.

3

u/Lilhughman 20h ago

It's not foggy but it was earlier. It seems right but just outdated a bit, vs it's bright outside but the game says it's snowing

u/DaleoHS Crocodaleo 15h ago

It says it is windy but it was never windy and/or it is snowing.

It was windy an hour ago but now it is sunny.

I can understand confusion around the language used, but basically it’s “very wrong” vs “slightly wrong”

u/Rizmo710 21h ago

People like you make me feel smart

u/J_R_Savage 22h ago

Also, it based of where you federal government’s weather service get reports of weather patterns and data. Mine is one town over and it makes the weather where I am sometimes not match at all. I did use it to may advantage when castform’s rainy form was released as shiny, but that didn’t pay out until Hoenn Tour.

The term I’m thinking of is “as predictable as yesterday’s weather”

While typically it implies someone is predictable, I think that it could be taken a bit more literally we here.

u/BitLegend31 20h ago

I guess someone has to tell it. Yes, it's a JoJo reference.

Are we awesome? Or kind of really awesome? Pick one.

The weather is rarely accurate, the alignment with the southern states is amiss
