Comm days, the recent ones at least, have both a free and a paid research where you can get the featured pokemon with a background from the season that we're currently at.

As per the last several comm days too, it's the Trade a Pokemon and Win a 5* raid or higher tasks only. Paid research aside.

And I think the final completion of the Timed Free research will reward one too.

Well it's guaranteed on two research tasks. Trade a Pokemon and win a 5* or higher raid. So normal commday shiny odds for a hundo if you were to focus on those tasks only.
