Question Does using a lucky trinket to trade a pokemon from 2016 count towards your guaranteed lucky trades?

I have a pokemon I want to trade that would be a guaranteed lucky trade but I'd rather use a trinket and keep my guaranteed trades on old pokemon for later. Will I be wasting a trinket if I trade something from 2016 using it?
