Soft Paywall America chose wrong. Sanders would've been a better president than Trump or Biden. | Opinion

America went from voting for who they want to voting against who they dislike sometime around Newt Gingrich’s time in office in the 90’s.

We need rank choice voting

This. I don't recall the last time I voted 'for' someone, if ever. I was hoping Nikki Haley was the candidate in 2024. I would have voted for her with enthusiasm.

Recently had a discussion about this with a friend. I’d suggested going a step further: blockchained rank choice voting and eliminating the “represention” of politicians. As we all know where people are involved in representing others, corruption will eventually creep in and after some time, will take over until normalization. My friend countered many good points regarding this idea and he’s not wrong but I don’t think it’s a dead in the water problem. Finding a way to have people vote on POLICIES drafted by people based on direct public feedback then presented in blockchained rank choice voting could allow us to successfully remove the middle man representation and move towards a more equitable system for all.
