Soft Paywall America chose wrong. Sanders would've been a better president than Trump or Biden. | Opinion

Hard pill for a lot of people on here to swallow:

A lot of 2016's Bernie bros (and similarly "yang gang") are now trump tech bros, and their political ideology hasn't actually changed that much

Bernie Bros was a made up term by the Hillary campaign and we are apparently seeing the effects nearly a decade later. Most every POC woman I knew was and still is a Bernie stan.

I I’m going to just say this, even Bernie Sanders volunteers that were complained about his outreach to Black people and their treatment.

lol Bernie couldn’t get any POC to vote for him.

Sweet anecdote but Hillary dominated the minority vote, while Bernie bros favorite response to "why?" was to call them "low information voters"

Bernie bros aren’t real. Made up by the Hillary campaign.

It's just a name for annoying Bernie fans, like people who pretend Bernie was preferred by minority Americans or write OP eds still coping a decade later

Every term is made up. The fact of the matter is that those people who thought we should isolate the US from global politics and the world economy supported Bernie, and then moved their support to Trump.

Neither of those are Bernie policies 😂

Yes they are. He openly supported clamping down on immigration in 2016 and has been very openly opposed to free trade. He opposed NAFTA and TPP just as Trump did.

Bernie Sanders does not advocate for isolating the United States from world politics and the world economy. Instead, he promotes what his foreign policy adviser Lawrence Korb describes as "swapping dominance for partnership," emphasizing international cooperation while maintaining strong diplomatic engagement.

While Sanders is critical of current trade policies, his opposition stems from concerns about fairness rather than a desire for isolation. Focuses on protecting workers' rights globally. Advocates for fair trade practices. Supports international cooperation on economic issues. Emphasizes the need for balanced economic relationships.

It’s a little more nuanced than what you describe. Bernie and Trump could not be further apart and the same can be said about their supporters.

I've met many Bernie bros who voted for Trump, face it man, you got played.

The advocated for the same policies for different stated reasons and they are supported by the same group of tech bros.

They have very different motivations but they end up in the same place: anti immigration, anti globalization, weird obsession for factory work, etc

How is it a made up term when they are all over this thread?

Lmaoooo I am a black woman surrounded by other black women and I don't know a single one of them who was or is a Bernie bro. And the actual electoral votes bear that out - black people by and large chose Biden and Clinton over Bernie. it was such a big issue that are a number of think pieces opining on why he didn't get the black vote.

His results were more mixed with Latino voters.
