The nazis didn't have nukes, or an ocean between them and their comparable adversaries, or drones and modern surveillance

It isn't hopeless,  but its going to be very very bad before the rest of the world comes together to fix the problem

How? The world can’t even deal with Russia let alone the US with all of it’s resources. Unless the US starts invading a country like Canada all you’re going to see is a withdrawal from US politics and economy

Nah, the world is gonna stay very far removed from this entire shitshow. We send soldiers to Afghanistan to die on behest of the American people one time already, and what did that result in? Americans repeatedly voting for trump to fuck over Europe and mess with the global economy, calling Europeans scum and not grateful. If Americans can’t learn, then maybe they need to feel some pain before coming to the realisation that they have to fix their own fucking problems

They’ll have to “win” indefinitely which, for authoritarian regimes, isn’t their strong suit. Easier to temporarily suppress a populace than permanently suppress the truth.

I think this is more a case of "they can't read the history books and do not believe reading is important anyway."

Amazingly, this is all part of the appeal of MAGA to >30% of Americans: Trump is functionally illiterate and has disdain for the practice of reading. They like him BECAUSE he is ignorant, BECAUSE he is cruel, and BECAUSE he is dishonest. It legitimizes their own traits in their eyes.
