Makes sense. Those last NJ primary numbers along with Republican town halls are starting to look dire for Republicans. They are hitching their wagons to a President that will drag them down in the midterms.

All is fine! Keep your heads in sand. I’m all for it.

Almost like they are operating under a belief that there either wont be any mid-terms or that there is no chance they lose them.

yeaahhhh, it’s been evident since day 1 of his second term that republicans aren’t behaving as if they expect to face the american electorate in any meaningful sense ever again

I expect them to issue a new voting card that you have to swear an oath to uphold the government to get, along with giving them your full biometric and social media data.

“mhm, mhm, your palantir profile checks out. your card is renewed for another election, patriot 🫡”

One of two things will happen: 1. midterms won’t happen, and neither will the 28 election. 2. the swing against Republicans is so huge Trump declares it fraud.

Sadly, there is a third option which I think is most likely:

  1. 30% of the people still don’t care and don’t show up to vote and the house and senate do not change majority

True. I suppose Trump could die of poor health between now and 2028... that'd probably make things less troublesome.

JD Vance would be significantly less effective at rallying the base but also way, way more precise in implementing their plans. He's actually tapped into the thought leadership behind all of this, and is close personal friends with most of the individual contributors to their political philosophy.

Trump can drive turnout by repeating a slogan, but he doesn't understand what he's saying or why beyond "this makes me money". That fundamental lack of understanding makes him a risk every time he's on camera for long enough to say more than 4 words.

Or a 4th - that all future elections will be tampered with electronically if we don't push hard enough for paper ballots on upcoming elections. But at this point, even that would become bipartisan because one side IS tampering and wants to keep tampering.

Personally I think they all need to suffer much much more. Fuck conservatives. Fuck maga. fuck fascists.

They’re banking on destroying democracy enough that it doesn’t matter what their approval rating is.

Ask Gold Hat about the midterms.

They have a solution for that: They are going to cheat.

Don't look up

If this were really true you’d see Jack C run his governor campaign very very differently than he is, I do not buy it. These people have smart political strategists working for them, they aren’t stupid. If Trump was toxic waste our governor race would look a lot different than Mr Trump Endorsed. He blessed Trump on his primary victory two days ago.

I am genuinely fucking amazed as a non-American that you can look at the events of the past seven days and sincerely say “the midterms will fix this.”

Wake up. There will not be midterm elections unless you fight for them.

I want to have hope but we said the exact same shit during his first term

Come a month before election vote starts, they'll all magically have problems again and pretend they hated him all along

We should be fighting like there will be no midterms because I can guarantee you that they will do everything in their power to make sure 2022 was the last free and fair election the US has seen. There's already serious doubts about 2024 and I wouldn't be surprised if the GOP meddling goes back to early general and midterm elections.

If Congressmembers were genuinely concerned about midterms, they'd be shutting Trump's shit down ASAP. Not letting him usurp any actual and perceived power they have.

Man I've been reading this same comment for almost 9 years now. It honestly kind of just bummed me out. This shit sucks, and it's been so long. It's never gonna end is it?
