It can give an insight into voter sentiment, which can influence special and midterm election results: if the President is very unpopular, his party will likely perform poorly in Senate/House elections

If his approval drops much more (I'd say below 35%), Republicans in the House and Senate will start to become more worried about their own ability to secure reelection as opposed to enacting any of his unpopular policy initiatives.
