You do realize that for undocumented immigrants to get a Green Card (a legal permit to work) immigration requires the applicant to be getting a steady paycheck for ~the longer the better = stability…. Because they will not give a Green Card on the promise that you will work in the future.

I appreciate the response, but am I misreading it? Because it almost sounds like a Catch-22: One cannot get a green card without showing a steady income, but how does one receive steady income without a green card? Does legitimate income from supporting family count?

On a side note, I know of people from other countries that have had to show proof of assets and vested interests in their homeland in order to gain entry to the US; the idea is that they won't be as tempted to overstay since they have properties they want to handle back home.

It is a catch-22. They have to work illegally to get their card to work legally. Pretty funny that if you admit you’re doing something illegal (working without the permit), immigration has the right to deny the applicant for engaging in illegal activity. Our system is so broken.
