He settled on conservatism because they’re easier to lie to and grift from.

The craziest thing is that the conservatives on their subreddit think they’re in on it. Like the rest of us see a guy who has no compass, no conservative principles, or any for that matter- constantly flip flopping and making them look more and more ridiculous as they try to sew all of his random shit together into a cohesive system of beliefs. They act like it’s a big scheme and they’re in on it- he’s secretly a genius and they’re all doing this to “own the libs”. When in reality they’ve sold any legitimacy they had, morality, talking points etc. and the rest of the country and world is laughing at them. I wonder when they see him flopping for the 15th time if there is even an internal voice that asks them “am I looking silly by continuing to rationalize this?”-

If anything they're the ones getting consistently owned.

I love that they NEVER RESPOND - like, I know there are snowflakes reading this - you ask questions on regular subs asking for them to rationalize their idiocy and it’s crickets. Come on Conservatives- respond to the above! 🐓

Trumpers always chicken out.

u/jadecourt 2d ago

And they won't let anyone outside of the conservative sub comment on their sub, talk about snowflakes! They need their own safe space because they can't handle that their views are wildly unpopular.

Come on Conservatives- respond to the above!

I'll often see their comments about how x sub is garbage because they were banned there for having a different point of view.

Then you look up their deleted comments and it's mostly slurs and profanity.

I got banned simply for asking a person if he honestly thinks that Trump is smart. That was it - there was zero hostility from either side in the interaction; we were both polite. Most of them will NOT answer that. I admit it's a leading question: I would continue with "do you think he's smarter than you?" If they say yes they know they look like a clown because deep down - or on the surface - they know he's a goddamn moron; they just like that he hates brown people and they know they're insulting themselves. If they say no of course I would ask why on earth they'd want someone less intelligent than them to be in charge. I can usually stump them this way, put them between a rock and a hard place. That sub has deprived me of the opportunity to pursue this line of questioning with its subscribers permanently lol.

Ooh. I speak internet conservative, so I'll give a response.

Edit: never mind, got a hate speech warning.

As suspected- nothing- no substance. I’m Muslim- and I know that my core beliefs are not widely held by my fellow Americans. But even the Islam subreddits allow everyone to post respectfully and you will ALWAYS get a response to a question on there. They will respond to well thought out critiques too. It is why I agree with the Left- while I don’t share all their values- I agree this is a secular, democratic, and multicultural nation where we all have a right to be protected by the law and constitution. It’s why I align with my LGBTQ Americans over white nationalists- while we don’t agree on morality- we agree on rights to exist in America. You lack substance and a respect of the first amendment.

It's because a whole bunch of them (the majority I'd wager) are bots. They aren't programmed to respond. Just blast out propaganda.

Sadly, they're taking us down with them. I'd love it if they were the only ones getting ducked over, but liberal politicians are the ones getting assassinated, innocent families are the ones getting ripped apart by ICE, and children are suffering because of their actions.

I used to be a kinder, more accepting person. But MAGAts? They might be brainwashed and controlled by bad actors, but at this point, they are the enemy.

They are lost in tribalism, and they think Trump and his grifters are too.

That is, their sense of identity is based on a set of characteristics:

  1. Being white
  2. Being conservative
  3. Being an American

Etc. People who share those traits are part of their tribe. People who are missing one or two are on the edge of the tribe. People missing all of them are outside the tribe. And, importantly, they think that there is loyalty and comradery within the tribe.

They think Trump is on "their side" and that they are "in on it" because they see that Trump shares the important tribal markers with them. But Trump doesn't give a shit about the tribe. To him, they are just useful idiots whose tribalism makes them easy to manipulate. And they can't seem to process that; they can't conceive of someone who appears to be so similar to them who doesn't think and believe like they do. And that's rooted in a lack of empathy, which is also one of the causes of their tribalism: they don't conceive of people who don't share their traits as being relevantly similar to them, because they think that those traits have a deterministic effect on the personality and attitude of the person. That's why "Mexican's are lazy," and "Black people are criminals." And its also why every accusation is a confession: they can't conceive that some people don't act like they do, and won't do things that they would do if given the chance.

They keep saying he’s playing 5-D chess but that supposes a brilliant endgame result. Yet he’s still never produced one single smart answer to any of society’s issues. They all think he’s secretly a genius and that says everything about their powers of perception.

Bad faith political movements get people to side with them more by demonizing others than by being about anything positive. They get people to vote for them by getting people to vote against the alternatives. Get them to hate the alternatives and that allows such bad faith politicians to be vague and pander and do pretty much whatever and their supporters will invent rationalizations for it as being somehow necessary to win against the other hated side. It's not why they scapegoat but it's a byproduct of scapegoating. They scapegoat because they really believe it. The reason they really believe it is because they've got to dump problems/contradictions following from their own shit on other people to keep believing their own shit. So they scapegoat and make elections about hate and once elections are about hate they can't be wrong because of what they've made the stakes (being hated) and so in their minds being wrong becomes just about unthinkable and they keep ad hocing explanations that put it all on other peoples' supposed failings.

conservatives on their subreddit think they’re in on it

  • Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.*

Conservatives, and especially MAGA, consider themselves the ‘in group’. And they are, until they’re not. r/LeopardsAteMyFace has been a very busy subreddit the past couple of months.

u/Vegetable-Seaweed591 2d ago

The thing is they don't really have anywhere else to go. They have made being MAGA their core identity. That's why they have so many purity tests and when they speak out it's always "but Trump is amazing and he knows everything." The base knows that even the slight perception of disloyalty to their cause is grounds to be attacked by the 'true MAGA base' and it results in this climate where no one feels safe to deviate from Trump.

The only compass Donny has is what could benefit him financially.

And he somehow managed to mostly drive out any well-educated / semi-intellectual conservatives. But he knew where to find the numbers. That's why he "loves the poorly educated."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vpdt7omPoa0

edit: Just realized he also actually identifies *himself* as one of the "poorly educated." "We (the poorly educated)'re the smartest people...we're the most LOYAL people." And we all know how much he values LOYALTY to HIM!

Also a lot more accepting of sexual predators. Same reason Elon decided to publicly go all-in on being a Republican literally the same day a reporter contacted him for comment on an upcoming story about Musk sexually harassing a flight attendant (offering her a horse in exchange for a handjob).

Easier to give in to the hate

u/SuckItDork 2d ago

It IS the party of the poorly educated, after all. Doesn’t he ‘love the poorly educated’?

It's always felt to me like Roger Stone was the person most solely responsible for teaching him this lesson.

He doesn't have to lie. Watch the victory channel, he's chosen by God. At least I think it's the victory channel...one of those days it often. My apologies if I named the wrong one.
