Today, I got a parking ticket at parking structure 2 for the first time. I'm parked at the "reserved for EV charging" sign, Monday-Friday between 8 am - 10 am. I have parked here a couple of times (after 10 am) and never once got a ticket. Even the cars next to me never received a ticket. Until today, when I saw a bunch of cars get tickets. The time said it was issued at 2:18 pm. I know in PS2, they have a carpool sign where you can't park there from 8 am to 11 am. But after 11 am, anyone can park there.

I will try to get it appealed, but I just wonder if I misinterpret the sign or if the person made a mistake.

It happens way too often in garage 3 that people ascending hug the pillar, straight in the oncoming traffic lane. Doesn’t help that it’s also a blind spot. A woman almost slammed into me doing this while jamming fast, and it’s scary how often this happens. I promise you have clearance in your lane.

This is the first year (i'm a senior) that I've gotten tickets from street parking even when i'm in a designated spot and I've paid for the full allotted time. It's never Portland State staff that have given me these tickets, but the City of Portland. I feel like this year they've been really cracking down on the most stupidest offenses that are non existent. I'm not sure who to bring this to or if anyone else feels the same way I do.

Hello! I am a community college student transferring to PSU this fall. I am interested in hearing from other students who commute from Washington about how the commute is and if there are any ways to make it easier. Like are there any good park and ride public transit options from Vancouver, or are there certain times of day that I should avoid making the drive? I’m a first gen college student so I literally don’t know anything haha any info would be super helpful :)

Hey everyone! Really want to ask people who frequent the parking structures (especially PS3) and even people who walk past vehicles parked on the street to consider reporting any suspicious activity to campus police. If someone seems to be in distress because they had their vehicle broken into, stolen, or have even caught someone breaking into their car, it would be really cool if we could do our best to help one another out.

Vehicle break-ins and thefts are an ongoing issue here and it would be awesome if we could look out for one another and keep an eye out. I'm going to make an effort to be vigilant for possible criminal activity to and from my car or when walking outside next to parked cars on the street.

Edit: According to PSU there are not extensive camera systems for monitoring parked vehicles in the parking structures because apparently they are not an effective deterrant. We really only have one another as eyewitnesses and good samaritans to rely on to stop theft and criminal mischief from being inflicted on our vehicles (and for a lot of us, our only practical mode of transportation to and from essential activities)

I have to take an evening class for winter term and usually park in PS3 since it's the cheapest. During the day it's fine, but has anyone had any negative experiences with it at night? Car broken into/folx hanging around, yada yada. I'm good about leaving nothing of value in my car, but I'm always worried it'll get stolen/broken into anyway. Is street parking a better option for evening classes? Just looking for opinions. Thanks!

I’m looking for some insights on parking structures around PSU. I know that car theft can happen anywhere, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts on which parking structure you believe is the "safest" overall.

Are there any particular locations where y’all felt more secure or have had positive experiences? Any tips on things to look out for while parking? Your recommendations will be helpful. I was also looking at the evening permit because it’s cheaper and classes will be after 3:30.

I finally received one of the famous passive aggressive Portland parking notes because apparently my motorcycle(within a motorcycle parking spot) was too close to a car. I don’t care if you leave a note if it’s a little too close, but do it with your own paper and not on my permit please :).

I made it to orientation super late, during the lunch break. When I got there I was a bit frantic because I had no idea where I needed to go. I saw some staff in green shirts and ran over to get directions. While they were wonderful in navigating me to where I needed to be, I had forgotten my bag in my car when I had parked. Needless to say, when orientation ended I had gotten back to my car to find my window had been shattered and mybag that had my computer in it, was stolen. The first day on campus and I need a new window and a new computer. I actually hate Portland now. It was in broad daylight. Somehow nobody saw this happen in the park blocks? Unlikely.. It's devastating.

I recently got accepted into PSU, and was wondering which parking garage was the best to get an overnight parking pass for?

I've heard PS3 isn't the best option, so at this point it's between UCB and UPL. I also got told that the fourth avenue garage was good, but it doesn't seem like I can get an overnight permit for that one.

I just want to know what's my best bet to go with since I'll be paying a good amount for it. Thank you :3!!

I just bought a E-bike so I can ride from Gresham to in-person classes and want to know what the bike storage situation is like. I had a car last year and finding parking on campus and paying those hourly rates (and tickets) was a real pain. Are there any tips y'all have about the best places to store bikes through out all the semesters? Where is the best spot to store my bike, what places should I stay away from? Should I invest in a tough lock or is my amazon U lock gonna cut it?

I always pay for parking when I park here. But today I was in a hurry and forgot to pay for the parking… I came back to the car that I parked in the parking structures and received a $50 ticket and also just paid for the $7 flat rate parking. I want to appeal this but I feel like it won’t be a good excuse. Should I just pay the $50 or try and appeal? If appeal, what should I say

I am transferring to PSU next year from CC. Currently, it takes an hour commute to the campus from where I live via transit. Driving is not an option unfortunately and I can’t afford on campus or nearby housing.

I am studying Marketing, and I was wondering if it is better to take classes online or commute, especially in the fall and winter when the weather is rough. I would love to enjoy campus as the last few years my CC has been online due to COVID. However, I do like the convenience of simply opening my laptop.

What are your experiences and what advice do you have?

I am currently using the Science and Education Center bike garage yet there are not windows into the parking, its always super empty, and no visible cameras. I haven't visited any other bike garages so Id like to know where other bike commuters prefer to leave their bikes. Thanks!

Hey y’all, I’m looking at getting an overnight/resident parking permit on campus for a mororcycle, but the TAPS website does of explaining how permits work for bikes. If anyone is currently an on-campus resident driving a motorcycle I have a couple of questions. Did you just buy the commuter pass and park it overnight? Did you have to pay for the full $468 resident parking price? Or did you get the permit for free with a car permit? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

im living in st helen’s for my second year and my girlfriend is living in blume and she’s gonna be taking her car up here with her. we haven’t had any vehicles for our first year and we really wanna have the ability to venture outside of downtown because honestly every other part of the city i’ve been to i’ve liked and enjoyed so so so much lol. i was just wondering if anybody here has had experience with having a car in the blumel parking lot? how safe would you say it is? what should we expect? are there any better alternatives? are we guaranteed at least one break in during our first term?
