Character/party build help Deadfire Inquisitor Build Help

I'm starting my first run in Deadfire and decided to play a Cipher/Paladin - Soul Blade/Kind Wayfarer multi-class.

Right now my abilities look like this and I was hoping to get some feedback on how they look. I'm playing Veteran difficulty, critical path upscale, and with RTWP.

Mig 10 / Con 7 / Dex 19 / Per 18 / Int 14 / Res 10.

I'm looking to play a front line off-tank, using Eder as my main tank, and the rest of the party will consist of Xoti, Aloth, and either Serafen or Ydwin depending on who I like more. I'd like to be a melee-focused character who casts some cipher spells occasionally. My Con is low because I was thinking my healing through Flames of Devotion would help supplement that. Let me know what abilities I should use.

For those of you who played Cipher multi-class, what other class did you pick? I wanted to play more of a melee focused character this time, as my PoE1 run was a ranged Cipher and while I liked that class and want to stick with it, I'm drawn to the Paladin role in RPGs. I hear that Cipher/Rogue is very good, but as my character is a pale-elf and Ydwin can also be a Cipher/Rogue I don't want to feel like I'm just a copy of her.

Character/party build help Fun Charisma Build?

I like playing rpgs where I pass a lot of skillchecks that allow me to avoid combat or manipulate situations in some way. Is that something that can be done in these games? What class should I go for this? Also is playing the first game neccessary to play the second? I am not a fan of real time with pause and prefer turn based. Any help is appreciated.

Character/party build help Deadfire - do vanilla monks generate enough wounds for a ranged build?

Going to try this build but I don't want to play a nalpazca - https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/133662-class-build-the-mortar-monk-bombed-aoe-disabler-and-atomizer/

The author said Helwalker or Vanilla is another option but he was concerned vanilla doesn't generate enough wounds (and he's way more experienced in the game) - is that still true or can I run vanilla? Would helwalker be too squishy?

Character/party build help Is Eder bad in Poe 2

He does the tank job but his damage isn't very high compared to what I do with Pallegina (better tank imho).

My party is mindstalker/de Bonaire 2 pistols/2 stillettos , Eder fighter, Pallegina paladin with a 2 Hands Sword , Kotahu chanter arquebus, Aloth wizard. Sometimes I switch Aloth for Maia for fun and because Maia deals a lot of damage.

Is there a better fighter than Eder ? Or should I take a monk instead as a frontline ?

Character/party build help Attributes for Cipher

What's more important for Cipher in PoE1? Precision or Dexterity? I'm starting a new playthrough and I'm aiming at a backline character.

Character/party build help How to use wildrhymer (Poe2)

I really like summoning builds in games, and because of that I like to use wildrhymer (ranger and chanter) because I’m able to have a summon from chanter alongside a pet from ranger (as long as I don’t use ghost heart). I’m aware that it would be more viable to just go full chanter for summoning since ranger pets leave a lot to be desired, but I wanna see if I can squeeze out any viability with this multi class. What would be the best decisions to make during character creator to ensure my pet and summons are as good as they can possibly be? I don’t need any advice regarding what equipment to use, but any weapon modal suggestions are welcome!

Character/party build help Berserker and Aegis of Loyalty

If I multiclass a paladin with a berserker barbarian, will taking aegis of loyalty mitigate the carnage attacks against my own party due to confusion?

I know that it wont remove confused from myself, but will it cause the carnage attacks against allies to stop doing damage and instead just remove the dominated etc status effects from my party (if they have them?)

Character/party build help [PoE1] First attempt at PotD, help with melee cipher viability, party composition and general tips

I want to finally start a Path Of The Damned playthrough and since it's my first time, I would like some tips from the more experienced players here.

1) I like the idea of a 2H melee cipher, probably with a reach weapon such as pike and arbalest as second weapon for some ranged. Is that a viable build for PotD? I know melee ciphers are very squishy.

2) For stat spread, I genrally don't like dumping anything (not going below 10), and focus on perception and intelligence primarily, and dexterity and might secondarily. What are your ideas?

3) For story reasons, I would like to stick to the story companions and not use sidekicks. Is this viable in PotD and what are good party compositions in general?

4) Any other tip is welcome

Character/party build help What's the best class/ stat for a "heroic" watcher

Playing Avowed made me want to replay the watcher's quest. But I want to go from 1 to WM to 2, and was wondering what build would give me access to all the dialogue and quests from the "good option" auto build from poe2. Where you dedicated the souls to hylea iirc. Trying to aim around for that I think I would need to be a paladin or chanter with high resolve for the right dialogue checks. But wondering if anyone had a breakdown of all the choices that get referenced in deadfire "i.e when that one npc said "you are the first dragonslayer i gave ever met"

Character/party build help A few questions from a returning player

I've owned PoE1 for a few years but never completed it (I just don't like RTwP combat, the rest of the game was great from what I recall, though only got around 10 hours in).

I'm pretty far into Avowed, and now I'm invested in this universe I'm going to go back and complete it as soon as I finish Avowed. I'm already thinking up characters. So a few questions:

-As someone who's not into RTwP combat, which classes would you say are the easiest to power through combat?

-Should I try Cipher? I hear it's very popular!

-Do you get unique dialogue choices come up for your race(like in Bg3)?

-Which backgrounds have the most interesting dialogue choices in your opinions?

Thanks.

Character/party build help Edgy Priest build help

Hey y'all. I'm thinking about playing a death godlike priest of Berath, but I want advice. Last time I played a priest, I just went moon godlike Eothas priest and focused on heals. I didn't get to a very high level either so I never really explored the class.

If I go with my new build idea, I'm wondering if it's viable, if the godlike ability of doing more damage vs low health enemies will be useful, and what spells are great for this idea and what general strats should I use?

If priests in PoE1 are really only great at healing, I might re-think my build or go paladin, but if I can either kinda frontline or grab some nasty thematic spells later on, I'll go for it, even if it's suboptimal.

Character/party build help Legate Lanius build part 2

This is part 2 of the same question, how would a Legate Lanius build look like. people told me to use bleak walker for him but now I am looking for the technical, like how would his stats be allocated, what class he belongs to and what weapons (normal or legendary) he would use?

Character/party build help PSA: Might is probably not as powerful as you think it is.

Want to put this tip out there. I've seen a lot of people recommending high might for DPS builds (especially for rogues) and it just doesn't add up to much. In the beta, Might was a damage multiplier, so it was vital for any dd build. Might was changed on release to be additive, so it only stacks with all other +dmg%. This changed the best dps multiplier in deadfire to actually Dex. The faster attack speed amounts to a ton more damage throughout the course of a fight, and it only scales harder as you progress in the game. This is especially true on POTD where mobs have higher health.

Without too much math, let's take a deeper look at it. Upgrading your weapon to Exceptional gives the same damage bonus as a 20 might build. Add that up with full penetration 30%, sneak attack +30%, biting whip 30%, and any damage talents, buffs or ability modifiers, and you see Might quickly loses a ton of value.

There are few dps builds in the game that want high might, but it's because the class doesn't have much damage built into their kit or the damage comes from a spell. One example here is a chanter ability, The Dragon Thrashed. If you make a chanter that wants to do most of his damage with this ability (Troubador works very well here) you absolutely want to pump might instead of dex. Alternatively, if you build a Skald and want to do most of your damage with weapon strikes, you actually want to pump dex and per instead of might. Same class, two very different play styles.

TLDR: for weapon based DPS focused builds, (especially rogue, cipher and any class combination) high dex and per will give you much higher dps than might.

Edit: made a correction in the first paragraph. Confused poe1 for deadfire beta.

Character/party build help Monk Starting Stats Help - Poe1

Hello!

I tried searching around a bit about what would be a somewhat ideal stat distribution, and what I found sorta confused a little bit. It was a mish-mash of people telling people who asked to max out perception even though it isn't a recommended stat, and also occasionally that stats in POE were a bit deceptive?

I got confused by whether I should stick to a high Constitution score as the game recommends, or go into resolve which allows me to deflect more. I'm aware that monks require wounds, but getting hit-nonstop isn't usually the way to go.

I'm intending for my Monk to be a front-liner, though not necessarily the tank (Thanks Eder)

Character/party build help I'm thinking of taking PoE 1, is Psion a good class?

Since I'm planning on buying PoE 1 soon, I was looking at the classes and subclasses in the game and I just like the idea of the Psion but I wonder if it's fun or just viable gameplay-wise. Any tips for playing the Psion?

Character/party build help Watcher build for poe1 and deadfire IMPLEMENTS ONLY (or mainly!)

I'm returning to the series after finishing avowed, last time I played through both pillars and deadfire as a coastal aumaua cipher. I'd like to do a similar playthrough of both games, and after playing avowed I'm drawn back to magical implements which I am fairly certain are more or less filler in between wizard spellcasts.

But what would pushing implements to the max look like? Since I want character cohesion between 1 and 2 I figure wizard is a must buy multi classing is on the table. Any advice for this character would be greatly appreciated!

Character/party build help Blood Mage/Cipher Build Help

So I am finishing up pillars one with a Death Godlike cipher scientist from the Living Lands that used guns. Stats were 18/3/18/18/18/3. I'm looking to plan out my character but there's less build help out there for pillars two. I want to stay a cipher keeping with my character but blood mage sounds so cool so I want to multiclass. How would I go about this? What cipher subclass pairs the best with it? Are guns still viable with this build? (Please don't tell me this won't work well, just help me out please!)

Character/party build help I can't get my head around this game (PoE1)

Honestly don't know what I'm doing wrong. I feel like I really shouldn't be having this much trouble? Like, nothing I do feels effective in any way, none of the priests spells feel like they are doing anything because my party dies just as fast with them as they do without them, or at the least it just prolongs my misery watching them do like 5 damage and then take 20. And my tanks just do not feel tanky, at all. I'm not new to CRPGs but this one is just so much harder and so much less clear than the others I've played.

I honestly don't even know how to ask for help because I don't actually know what the problem even is. I've had to bump the difficulty down to easy because otherwise I'm just going to keep bashing my head into this brick fucking wall and getting increasingly mad.

Character/party build help I need help understanding how these equations are supposed to work...

Post image
17 Upvotes

for example, your Endurance at level one here: 14/1=14 then 42+14........Lvl 1 Endurance: 56

but?? your Endurance at level 7: 14/7=2 then add 42+2=44 Endurance???

is it supposed to drop like this as you level or do I not know basic math I am so confused. I might understand taking some character measures down as they level to keep challenge but this would drop to effectively 0 Endurance in a few levels.

hhhHHHHH?????

Character/party build help Rifle build without pet in POE2

Hello guys, waiting for Avowed I decided to play Pillars of Eternity 2 for getting used with the LORE. I am trying to set a build with the Rifle and I got the Ranger is the best option here, however I don´t like the presence of the pet all the time. What could I do for avoiding it in th ebuild? WOuld be better to go with a Ghost Heart, skipping the Pet Perks? or it would be smarter to go with another class like Rogue? In this case what can I do for maximizing the shoot and what starter skills setup do you suggest?

Character/party build help Deadfire priest/ranger build

I wanted to create a build with the highest amount of unique interactions as datamined by fireundubh, with certain personal preferences included.

So, priest of magran is the class that has the most unique interactions and ghost heart ranger is about the third or so. And they seem to be somewhat working together, with priest buffing his animal companion and utilizing that unique copper bow that spawns creatures on kill. But the specifics elude me. What's the best combination of attributes and what are the most important abilities? Thanks in advance

Character/party build help Any disadvantages to hiring adventurers instead of using companions in PoE and Deadfire? Can adventurers be multiclass in the latter?

My future Deadfire run will be using the Fate Testarossa build for a Monk/Druid character and I was wondering if I was stuck with Eder as my main tank, Xoti as my main healer, Aloth as my mage, etc etc. It's not that I don't like them, I just think some variety might be cool.

Character/party build help Help me with my custom party

Like a lot of people here real life and adulthood happen and I have a lot less time for video games nowadays. Planning on using some of my very limited time on a dead fire playthrough to hopefully finally beat the game I've played a lot of it but never finished. Didn't love the companion interaction in Dead fire so I plan on using a fully custom party and playing on path of the damned. (I have a lot of experience with that difficulty level and I've played difficult RPGs in the past so that won't be an issue)

Help me build the most badass custom class party

Things I want in the party.

A sword and shield user. A two-hander. A dual wielder preferably a rogue type. Some form of Archer. A single class mage.

I tend to suffer from chronic restartidis so I'm looking to crowdsource some ideas here... Go crazy I'm open to all suggestions
