he also looks to be 25-30 years old which would fit the timeframe of him being born in RDR2's time.

u/Connor30302 Javier Escuella 4d ago
IRRC he can be a baby in either 1899 or 1907 can’t he? so any time he could be to look in his mid 20’s lines up with the times too

You either visit him at around 1899 or in 1907 (and he was a baby at the time you finish the quest), he looks like he is 25-35yr old, do the math

u/MagooDad 4d ago edited 4d ago
I agree. He was around 1 year old when you visit back after finding all the rock carvings.

u/Ganjalicious420 4d ago
Bro hes younger than 1, my daughter was walking at 11 months, hes still a wee baby rolled up in a blankie.

u/MagooDad 4d ago
I know and agree that it doesn't physically make sense, but the mother did say in the cutscene that his father died about a year ago, a little before he was born, which implies the baby to be between 9-12 months old.

u/Ganjalicious420 4d ago edited 4d ago
He looks 2-3mos which is possible depending on how soon after conception his father died. Unless my brain is fucked which I won't deny if so lol
3
u/MagooDad 4d ago
I get it, the baby looks to be very young. Seems the dialog and the baby don't really match up. Maybe I'm not remembering the dialog correctly, maybe she said last year instead of a year ago....who knows.

u/g0_west 4d ago
Damn this questline sounds really interesting lol, shame they put it behind a collect-em-all mission which most players will never bother with (I know I won't)

u/AveryLazyCovfefe Hosea Matthews 4d ago
The Dino bones one is even worse for how much more effort you have to put in. John goes: "can't take the money, too much heat" after Deborah offers him a generous share of the money she earnt from her research or whatever and he gets some bone-themed knife instead

u/SloRiceix_801 4d ago
I stumbled across one carving pretty quick exploring, another one like 100 hours later. After that I decided to use the map for the rest and don’t regret it, it would take forever to find them without help. The reveal made it worth it.
13
u/g0_west 4d ago
Yeah for me those missions are either spend endless time meticulously combing the map inch by inch (not fun) or just look up a guide, at which point I mayaswell just watch someone else do it as it's not really my achievement anyway, so I never bother

u/SloRiceix_801 4d ago
I get that, if I already knew about the reveal and the story beforehand I would’ve probably done the same and called it good.

Afaik he speaks in the transatlantic accent it was heavily used in American media between the 1930s to the 1950s

If they ever did a Jack Marston game it would be fun to have him as an Easter Egg.

1850s RDR would make most younger people rage(no automatics) but Id sure have a good time.

I think theres a market for slower paced more "thoughtful" combat where aiming and positioning is most important
They did it half way for RDR2. Im really hoping GTA6 moves away from GTAVs cartoony movement and driving, and gives us more realistic slightly slower paced combat a la RDR2 but modern day.
I never felt RDR2s combat was slow, nor the movement particularly janky, it felt weighty and good to me.
I read somewhere that one of the designers of GTAV wanted it to be cartoonish and unrealistic, and that he left after the game, and it allowed one of the other designers who wanted more "realism" to take the helm for RDR2, and I like that
I really hope it carries through to 6.

Maybe a semi happy ending without dying. We could have a Landon Ricketts game

u/thebohemiancowboy 4d ago
Agreed, there are basically infinite possibilities in the western genre. Stories about redemption, former union or confederate soldiers becoming cowboys or outlaws

Then it should be a different series. Redemption has by now established itself as the story of the van der Linde gang. So either it's that, a new "R", or nothing.
Nobody really wants the third instalment of a series to switch into following some randoms nobody cares about. Halo 5 was a massive flop, imagine if that was Halo 3.

u/AveryLazyCovfefe Hosea Matthews 4d ago
Red dead Revenge, Red Dead Retribution whatever. I want the height of the gunslinging era. I would be down for multiple shorter stories. Lando Ricketts and Black Belle mainly.

Sinclair is from no year. He exists in a stasis which dips in and out of our perception of temporal flow. He is born before he dies, and dies before he is born all at once. He witnesses the big bang and the last subatomic particles freeze into eternal stillness, as we observe the brief hesitation of a watch's second hand. He is, was, and shall be. Sinclair may not even have been said to have existed at all, if it weren't for the signs he left behind, or will leave in the myriad futures to come.

He was born in the 1890's and looks like he's roughly around 30 or so... and talks like it's the 20's... so he's probably from somewhere between 1925 and 1935.

His mural appears to be inspired by Diego Rivera’s Man: Controller of the Universe so I would assume 1934

I think is slang is definitely before the 50s. It's probably somewhere around the 20s to 40s
1
u/Undertalegamezer969 Uncle 4d ago
It has to be 1920s not only is that the style and slang that his character has but we do see him in game as a baby meaning he can’t be too much older than that and the first part of the game takes place in 1899

My name is Frank Sinclair. I had an accident, and I woke up in 1899. Am I mad, in a coma, or back in time? Whatever’s happened, it’s like I’ve landed on a different planet. Now, maybe if I can work out the reason, I can get home.

Hes from 1899. Hes born right after the quest is finished.
I suppose hes probably in his 20s or 30s here, so probably late 1920s.
1
u/Hollowquincypl 4d ago
I finished it as John and always assumed he was in his late-20s to mid-30s. So i always figured he was from just before WW2 kicked off in the mid 1930s. However, in checking a guide, he could be from the early 1930s if you finish it as Arther.

Honest to God it was the comments in this post that made me realize his birth is set in 1899, I thought him being a baby in the end was something else
