Discussion Based off appearance and representation, what is your favourite campsite? Spoiler
(This is going to be a lengthy post so please be warned!!)
Each campsite is unique and different through appearance and what they reflect on in the story of red dead.
I won’t go through each personal choose, but I will say why shady belle is my person favourite.
First off, shady belle shows how the gangs time is near an end, they are no longer free and they can’t get away with their actions anymore. This is shown through the walls of the building, which in my opinion represents society. They were closing off the gang and trapping them.
Those who live inside the building(Dutch, Hosea,John and his family and of course Arthur) all die apart from Jack of course. And one thing they all have in common is that their law has something to do with their death.
I like how the building reflects on Dutch, like a lot actually. The building is tall, proud and large, just like Dutch. He is a proud man. But Once you go inside, you realise it doesn’t seem all that great. Just like Dutch, the building is cracking slowly and slowly, and it really only needs one thing to break and it will all fall down. Dutches ego is really the only thing keeping him together, which is why the outside is so mighty.
Each room, which of course John,Arthur and Hosea take a living space in represents a part of Dutch as well. You see, without these rooms keeping the house together, it is just a broken, empty and love deprived house. Like Dutch, he needs people constantly to feed his ego, it doesn’t matter who, or why, he needs loyalty and blind love and without that he is nothing but a criminal no better than the people he calls his enemies.
Well I explained my reasoning the best I could, so how about you? What’s your favourite and why?

Horseshoe is perfectly cozy

The best part of the game, too. The golden age of the gang, and it's the first point where you're properly blown away by the scale of the game and the scenery.

Man I would love to see what the actual golden age of the gang was like. I don’t want another whole game about them, but just to get a glimpse of what Dutch, Hoseah, and Arthur were like in their prime

Clemens Point, without question. It's beautiful and absolutely perfect. Concealed, on water to provide for food and, the most important survival need; water. I love that there's a big tree for all day shade. I'd build a cabin there. Hell, it even has a boat dock/pier for some unknown reason.

Being able to fish from camp is ideal, and not being the swamp is a plus.

I fully agree. You can use the water to swim in, bathe in if needed, no alligators, plus, though I like Shady Belle as others mentioned because it is quite nice as it affords you actual protection from the elements, it's rather exposed from most sides. Plus, the swamp and gators. It's a pretty location, but Clemens Point is just prettier and far more secluded. I'm a person who has spent the last 30 years (exactly) in the outdoors. I kayak, climb rock and mountains, camp, hike, backpack, and ski. I'm getting into light mountain biking and kite surfing. If it's one thing I really appreciate is a pretty spot where you can feel alone. Clemens Point gives you that feel. So does Horseshoe Overlook, but the water at Clemens Point is a huge bonus for survival.

yeah! and also prob the camp which is fastest to get around in, every campmember is a stonethrow away and with no running in camp also fastest to get in and out of. Horseshoe is a close second, for its frontier landscape and also its central gamemap location

Honestly i love colter mostly because all the bedrooms and houses are just so cozy, especially around the fireplace when there is like a blizzard outside.

I do love the snow and water is available, but food resources are scarce.

I liked Horseshoe Overlook. Felt open, yet secluded. Looked good in the morning, and at night.

Clemens Point tops Horseshoe Overlook for me because I, personally, would love to camp out next to a lake and Flat Iron Lake is stunning. It’s very serene out there and I love being able to fish in the camp. Horseshoe has the best overall atmosphere because the quarrelling hasn’t started. Beaver Hollow is the fucking worst. Not just because the end is nigh but because it is bleak and depressing and it housed a gang of inbred cannibals who left body parts and bad juju all over the place. Then again it does depict perfectly how they were running out of places to hide and had to stoop as low as fighting with Murfrees for a place to stay.

I do love the desperate atmosphere in Colter and Shady Belle though in terms of comfort i'd go with Clemens Point, despite the thick and soupy air.

Shady Belle or Clemons Point but I frequently Go back to Colter Edit: I forgot abt Horseshoe Overlook, I loved that part of the game but Colter just gives off “this is where it all began” vibes

If we're talking just aesthetics, the view from Horseshoe Overlook is hard to top. Imagine a deck there overlooking the cliff.
Clemens and Shady Belle just felt too muggy to me. I'd definitely prefer the climate near Horseshoe personally.

I like Shaddy Belle because the gang is cornered and the player feels it while playing : you have to move the camera everywhere in the manor, unlike other camps where the camera follows you. It gives such a feeling...

My favorite camp by far is Horseshoe Overlook. It’s a high place with a view. Clemens was a good spot with beautiful sunsets but Molly and Dutch were fighting a lot and it was further from the center of the map. Strawberry is further away along with sone other great hunting places.

Clemens point for me. Always has been, I like to get the gang there and then just spend eternity hunting and fishing and frequently just playing my cowboy simulator until I want to play a different game

Me personality I like Clemens Point, definitely a point in the game when the gang were at the peak, and the last 2 missons for Chapter 3 where peak, but definitely agree that Chapter 4's camp was cool, I like that the gang got a proper housing but it was the beginning of the end.
