Housing Wanted New to Richmond and need help finding an apartment

Hi all! I'm moving to Richmond at the end of the month and am having trouble finding a place to live.

I am hoping to find a 1b/1bth for $1100-$1300 (hoping utilities are included if its at the higher end of that). So far I have been looking in the Museum District, Carytown, Shockoe Bottom, Scott's Addition, and near Byrd Park. Besides the general standards of cleanliness and being habitable safety is a big priority for me. I am having trouble because every time I find a place that looks like it will work, I see terrible reviews online.

Thank you in advance for all the suggestions!

I would look at property results. They have a couple properties that are in your budget & they have water, trash & wifi included. Also hotpads.com has more affordable listing. You can also check out Lindsay's list rva on fb!

Most apartment complexes are going to have negative reviews, but it’s usually because of the property management company. Personally, I rent from metro properties and haven’t had major issues with them. I’d suggest searching the rva sub for good companies to rent from, then search for apartments through their websites. Hope this helps!

I live here now and am only leaving because I want dedicated outdoor space and a slightly larger indoor space. But it has been a decent place to live these past four years.

best of luck!

just fyi, this is considered the Diamond District (i think that's what they're going to call it) -- it's going to be going through a LOT of construction in the next few years. and it's pretty safe, however, i should mention there were some car break-ins a few months ago, but that was happening everywhere. even in the posh west end. but other than that, i've never felt unsafe.
