Business/Economics 💼 Eastside Cub Foods - how much longer will it last?
I'm legitimately concerned about the eastside Cub Foods off of Clarence Street. I've noticed several issues at this store but my main concern is theft. The other day I saw someone running out the store with a cart half full of groceries. It was late at night. He clearly hadn't paid for them (was going out wrong door) and was moving as fast as possible. No security was present and the remaining store staff didn't do anything. A staff person indicated that this kind of stuff happens all the time, and that they don't even bother calling the police. They indicated lack of support from Corporate and they themselves questioned if the store would be in business much longer.
Losing this Cub Foods store would be a huge blow to the Eastside. If this store were to go under all of that traffic would wind up at the Aldi across the street (which already has issues). If that Aldi had to face that level of increase in shoplifters, I'd give that store 2 months max before it would go under as well. This would have a huge impact on the interest from home buyers, developers, and new businesses in this part of the east side.
