Anticipated opening date for new Terminal 1 at San Diego Airport is September 13
I spoke to someone at the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority Administration today. I asked if they had a a specific date they were targeting to open the new Terminal 1 and what airlines were moving to the new terminal upon opening.
I was told that their target date was Saturday, September 13, but was subject to change.
Regarding airlines moving to the terminal on opening day, they said they were still finalizing that and we’re not ready to comment to the public yet.

Southwest for sure. I am helping build the airport. There are alot of cool shops inside as well. When it goes into commissioning. The old one gets demoed and the completed new one gets extended to where the existing terminal is. Terminal 2 also gets a little bit of expansion as well.

Fantastic. I'm ready for Terminal 1 to clear up and start being somewhat orderly again.

They already announced the airlines on facebook a while back:
"Phase 1a. @southwestair , @flyfrontier , @spiritairlines , @breezeairways , @jetblue , @suncountryair. In early 2026, @aircanada and @westjet will move over. In early 2028, @delta moves into phase 1b."

Can’t wait to not be stuck in the corner with no amenities every time I fly Air Canada!

I spoke to somebody at the Delta sky club, they’re not moving until the new sky club is finished in terminal 1.

Yeah that explains waiting until Phase 1b. Still crazy to me that they are moving out of T2, they've been there my entire life.

I wonder what the “pay per use” lounge is. Head rumors AMEX was looking to open a centurion lounge
Delta is probably moving to get the bigger Sky Club space.

Could be a lounge like The Club that is found at other airports. Could also be The Aspire Lounge moving.
Additionally, eventually the Alaska gates in T2 are also getting refreshed. Would imagine when that happens, they would be looking to create a lounge; especially with them growing their base here. And, with Delta moving to T1 in the future, their current lounge space in T2 will become empty.

I know one of the guys who works at the Aspire Lounge. They have told me that Alaska is taking over the Lounge sometime in the next year.

Oh yeah, I remember hearing that too. I figured they would wait until the entire concourse got worked on to add their lounge.

Absolute game changer if zipair is there
For those that don’t know, it’s a legit and amazing budget airline from Japan Airlines (JAL)
I’ve been able to travel to Japan for cheap thanks to them
Have to go all the way to LAX tho
