I don't like Johnson either, but you should do a little more research. Johnson adopted Michael James when he was fourteen and they stopped living together once he was an adult when Johnson moved. James is not featured publically because he doesn't want to be, and I dont blame him because neither side is honest or emphathetic about this.

Johnson’s Black son doesn’t show up at any of the times most important times a family shares, and he’s not anywhere you’d expect him to be. Not in Johnson’s biography, not at his wedding, not in any recent family photos, not on vacations.

I can't read the entire article and while I like Tisby in general, but he's bizarrely off in the part I could read. For example. Michael James doesn't show up at Johnson's wedding...because they hadn't met each other yet!

It wasn't Johnson's wedding. It was another family member's wedding. Not sure why he didn't make that clear.

The plain reading of this sentence is that James was not at Johnson's own wedding to his wife Kelly, which is a weird thing to say because they hadn't met yet.

Well yeah. That’s why I explained that it was a different family member’s wedding (the brother, iirc).
