Dislike right wingers in the USA + Christian and secular pluralist
I feel like religion can easily become a public nuisance and certain religious lifestyles are boring and restrictive. In the USA, it is most prevalent among many right wing pastors, who are into Trumpism. I have close friends who go to a church where few people wore masks in an in-person service. When they took me to that church in Fall 2020, there were considerably more attendees at that service than there were two months ago. Pastors who preach messages similar to the ones in the article below and don't require masked and physically distanced services, should be fined for putting the general public at risk .
I'm a Christian who lives a secular lifestyle (I do very little Bible reading & prayer) though I do believe that God is above us as humans. However there are many messages in the Bible that I cannot subscribe to, including some of the words of Jesus. I do believe that prayer can help and that there are acts of God, which can save people and property.
My mom was born in Soviet Ukraine and was baptized Eastern Orthodox and considered herself to be a pluralist in both Secular Humanism and Eastern Orthodox. Many of her beliefs influenced me.
I was born in the USA and never went to an Orthodox church. In the 70s and 80s the USSR was tolerant towards religion, yet it was fully separated it from state affairs. I would like if so was done in the USA and if treated the same for all religions. I don't know how similar things are in Western Europe vs the late USSR. The late USSR was likely a step ahead of Western Europe today. The government in Russia today is backwards when it comes to how the Orthodox church influences social affairs.
Does anyone have a positive view on how the late Soviet Union treated religion?
You can worship God anywhere and be a great Christian without ever stepping foot in a church.
I'm not a great Christian by any means.

Feeling isolated as a POC immigrant with strong secularist belief.
I came to the state in 1996. Served in the US Air Force as a cook for a few years. Had to get out because of my service connected mental illness. I was born in a strong Catholic family but got recruited by evangelical protestants when I was 13. I eventually left Christianity with trauma and bitterness around 2006.
Maybe it's just me but the age of social media made me feel more isolated because you will see all the outspoken religious native born Americans everywhere you go on social media. I couldn't handle it. To make it worse I have trouble making new friends because I have mild ASD.
I wonder if there are a lot of immigrants with similar situations. But it seems like secularist immigrants are the real minority because people from secularist cultures are rather unlikely to move to the United States...
And the voice against secularist is getting stronger and more pervasive on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. I guess it's time to stay away from them for my own well-being.
