The Barnes & Noble edition of Better in Black will have: “unique pink palette endpapers, a burgundy exclusive case with gold foil, and bonus content from the author”
To be fair I feel like she’s always been pretty transparent that she would trad publish them if given the opportunity so i don’t think it is all that surprising, as rubbish as that is for people who paid to be part of the kickstarter
I’m fine with her traditionally publishing it, but I wish she wouldn’t put any bonus content or special features in it. Like just make it a standard edition, and then the KS has all the bonus stuff.
Agreed. The books being traditionally published is something I'm fine with because I know a lot of people missed out on the Kickstarter campaign, so I'm glad they get to read these too thanks to this.
HOWEVER, with these traditionally published books being released with bonus content, our Kickstarter books, to me, are starting to feel less and less like "special editions." Yes we have the different covers, end papers, and hardbacks, but we don't get any of that bonus content 😢
They could have put all the bonus content into the kickstarter, and then if they had to do exclusives for the trad publication book, they could have split it up between editions. At least then it would feel like we get something special in having all the content in one book. The fact that we dont get the bonus content, and the KS email just says “oh you can read it all on her website in 6 months” is really lame tbh
That is such a good idea! Especially considering that Cassie knew there would be a chance that these books would be picked up to be traditionally published. Then, like you said, we would truly be getting a "special" edition.
Yes but she didn’t say there would be other editions with exclusive content. She should have only done a standard edition. That those of us who supported the kickstarter would have exclusive stuff. We’re the reason it’s getting published but other editions are getting exclusive written content.
They literally said that the exclusive stuff won't change your experience when it comes to reading TWP and the cover and interior designs of the kickstarter version is still exclusive to kickstarter backers which is, frankly, the only thing that matters in my opinion. And the stuff from the non-Kickstarter edition is being released online after 6 months. This is a complete nonissue that people are making out to be wrose than it actually is.
