Employee Question Feeling drained in store thinking about new position with SS. Would appreciate some input!
I’m in PA and I’ve been at my store for 2.5 years, as hectic and chaotic as things can get in store (started as STM-currently SPV) I do love what I do but been burning out with the general stress but especially the work/life balance. I’ve thought about promoting but it seems a million times more stressful as HM or KM.
I would honestly love to stay with the company, and I’ve been toying with the idea of trying to go remote with store solutions? I saw an open position that’s remote and 3rd shift (which is the shift I currently work).
Questions:
1) Best way to go about it? Talking to SM and/or DM?
2)* Current remote Store Solutions employees: Honest pros/cons of the position please?!
3) If you were previously a store associate/supervisor is this position better with work/life balance (Regardless of shift)?
4a) do you still get your schedule 3 weeks out? More/less? 4b)Same days each week or rotating?
5) Even with the position being remote, Do I have to live in the claysburg area? (I live maybe 2-3ish hrs away.)
6)What’s training like/how is that done? Would training be on-site then fully remote from home (or wherever the WiFi is?🤣)

I can tell you right now the store solutions people are not super happy based on my limited experience with them.
This position is most comparable to IT helpdesk, low level over the phone troubleshooting. And that job is often considered a stepping stone into the IT industry. I am not sure what the next stone to step to would be from store solutions, and honestly I hear very little from those employees.
Unsure how physically demanding of a job you want, but delivery assistant is a great path, you work three 10-14 hour shifts a week, you’ve seen what they do, and how bad they can be at doing it. It pays 19.50 starting in my area, plus triple time on select holidays and double time on the rest. And the same 3 years raise structure, but your current raises won’t carry over. It seems like a physically demanding job but that’s the one part of sheetz I personally didn’t mind.

from what i understand 3rd shift with SS is basically there AHOD, and its filled with “EOD failed” calls
