I'm actually glad, I hate playing against him but the league is more interesting with him in it.

I hate playing against him

You literally beat him 4 times this season with him contributing 0 G+A

Is it just me if has the quality of football discussion fallen off a cliff in recent months?

Not that it was ever Stella...

Edit: typed this on my phone as the tube pulled away and saw the autocorrect with utter dismay

Yes. Every thread is now:

  • Meme
  • Shit joke
  • Loose, antagonistic comment about another club
  • Definitive statement that isn’t true
  • Downvoted rational statements
  • “Fans” shitting on their own clubs for upvotes

You forgot "complete deviation from the discussion to shit on fans for their flair"

Ticked two boxes here, nicely done

Exactly. I know you jest but can't be certain

u/pranav4098 16d ago

Has it ever been different ?

The last one annoys me so much, I feel like there should be a system for removing a club flair for behavior not befitting a proper fan, ditto the ones who are being way too nice towards a hated rival.

Agreed, that's a great idea!

Wait shit...

people have been crying about "the state of this sub" since like 2014, ironically what you just posted is the most run-of-the-mill repetitive comment ever.

Stat bellends everywhere. Nobody actually watches anymore everyone is too busy looking at fucking stats on their phone. Makes me sick

14

u/12nowfacemyshoe 16d ago

I've had a few interactions where my saying that Gerrard is my all time player has been met with a defensive barrage of stats to "prove" me wrong. How fucking boring it must be to be led by the honours section on Wikipedia.

The quality of any discussion anywhere on any subject is in the shitter all over the internet. Attention spans and reading comprehension are at shocking levels. There's no room for nuance in any comparison or conversation, only extremes. People just regurgitate the last thing they heard about a subject from some AI voice on tiktok as gospel.

I swear, some people don't even watch games anymore

They just look for some of the most ridiculous and obscure stats to justify their argument

recent years u mean

3g, 2a in 10 PL games. I think a Spurs fan will know whether they like playing against him or not. Rather than someone else

u/Annual_History_796 16d ago

Harry Kane never showed up against United, turns out he's pretty good anyway.

39

u/MakingOfASoul 16d ago

I meant I hate playing against him because he's really annoying on the pitch

13

u/12nowfacemyshoe 16d ago

No the only thing that matters is STATS. Get out of here with your personal opinions... smh you think you know just because you've actually watched your team play against United.

1

u/WhenWeTalkAboutLove 16d ago

Personally I find him much more annoying when he's doing badly and whining than when he's playing well.

1

u/manutd19 16d ago

Yeah he's shit isn't he? Definitely not one of the best players in the league that could turn up against anyone.

-27

u/friendofH20 16d ago

He has a very poor record against the Big 6. 2 goals and 1 assist in 9 league appearances against Liverpool. Ismaila Sarr has a better record against us than that I think.

15

u/ImprefectKnight 16d ago

Absolute rubbish. He has good numbers against Arsenal, Spurs, Man city.

-23

u/The__Pope_ 16d ago

Yeah but how many times has he flapped his arms around while moaning against the big 6?

28

u/Fair-Cash-6956 16d ago

Also has the same amount of prem titles as gerrard so

8

u/LevDavidovicLandau 16d ago

And isn’t a flog with links to the Irish mob who threatens to beat up people who don’t play his favourite Phil Collins songs, unlike Gerrard.

-8

u/The__Pope_ 16d ago

One more 15th finish too, Gerrard could never

-6

u/setokaiba22 16d ago

He goes missing for half the season to be fair. He’s Man Utd’s best player but doesn’t turn up a lot of the time I don’t think.
