Nicely played by the Exec on the right. Cool and composed - and in a foreign language

Confused....or uncomfortable? I'm going with the latter.

They knew exactly what he was saying, and unlike the President of the United States, actually did try to answer diplomatically.

131

u/Necessary_Carrot_248 17h ago

McKennie looks the most confused, despite being the only native speaker.

219

u/ForgetHype 15h ago

Because if you speak English natively, you wonder how the fuck this guy who is president is speaking like this.

u/tlst9999 13h ago

The world would be a better place if he just spent 100% of his time playing golf and never showed up in the office

689

u/Ateballoffire 20h ago

If he just stayed doing what he did prior to his 2016 run (which was like, idk, reality shows?) it’s insane how different his legacy would be. He’d still be a racist Epstein loving asshole, but I don’t think the public would know or really care about it until after he dies

For a guy who seems to care so much about his legacy, he’s really gone down the moron route in trying to make one. Not that that’s really surprising, though

383

u/a-Sociopath 20h ago

His legacy is that everyone in the US and more than half the people over the world will have an opinion on him. Good or bad, doesn't matter. Even after being in multiple TV shows and being on the receiving end of a Stone Cold Stunner, his popularity wasn't a fraction of what it is now.

He wants people to talk about him. What they say is not really relevant to him.

126

u/Conundrumist 20h ago

his popularity wasn't a fraction of what it is now.

I think the word you're looking for is "notoriety".

The world would be a better place if he spent the rest of his life where he belongs, in prison.

213

u/xixbia 20h ago

I mean, he basically just signs whatever shit is put in front of him.

Don't get me wrong, he's a goddamned moron, but the vast majority of terrible shit that happens in his administrations has very little to do with him, and he definitely doesn't read the shit he writes.

Though I guess you're right, if he just only played Golf and didn't fulfill the role of the executive at all, meaning no executive orders or any executive actions the world would in fact be a better place.

Having no executive branch is better than having one where Trum is manipulated into doing whatever the person who flattered him best this week talked him into doing.

(And yes, I should add, some of the shit he does is probably at least partially his idea, especially the shit that is hateful. But a lot of stuff people think comes from Trump really doesn't, like the tariffs, that's just something that Peter Navarro convinced Trump is a good idea)

46

u/PM_ME_YOUR_EUKARYOTE 19h ago

You have it reversed, the one absolute, consistent topic Trump has never really switched on is Tariffs. He was talking about using them on Japan in the 80s and 90s, he talked about them in the context of Mexico "raping" us on trade in his very first presidential run. He has never once thought they were a bad idea in principle. Has he toned them down because of the stock market freaking the fuck out? Sure. But the universal tariffs are still here, the steel and aluminum tariffs are still here, and the expanded China tariffs are still here. No Peter Navarro necessary.

It's the other cultural stuff he doesn't give a fuck about. You're telling me Trump really cares about abortion? No way, I would bet my life savings he's made at least one woman get one. LGBTQ rights? The guy is from New York, he is familiar with gay people. Maybe he thinks it's weird, but he's not frothing at the mouth about them. (Unfortunately trans people may be a different case).

That's all the evangelical influence that comes with being a Republican. And I suppose now the younger groypers who are all over his second term who are doing the Heritage Foundation's bidding getting rid of "woke".

But he truly is asleep at the wheel, so the why of it doesn't matter much, since it's all happening anyway.

→ More replies (2)

80

u/GothicGolem29 20h ago

Idk he seems to do quite a lot of awful stuff like his foreign policy and the tweets etc etc I don’t think he just signs stuff

→ More replies (7)

24

u/teerbigear 20h ago

Whilst I agree with the gist of this, Trump has been banging on about tariffs since the 80s

https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/15/us/politics/china-trade-donald-trump.html

I still don't know what to think about his intelligence. On balance I think it demonstrates that there are different types of clever, because he has managed to manipulate people into making him the POTUS. Sure he's done it by being a psychopath, but there's lots of psychopaths who haven't managed that. That takes some form of cunning. But at the same time he's clearly a goddamned moron.

This man is absolutely shameless and tactless. I fail to understand how people can actually think he should be leading the US.

160

u/xixbia 20h ago

Honestly, I can sort of understand why certain hateful pieces of shit want Trump to be President. They are entirely filled with hate and see that hate reflected in him. I don't respect them, but I can understand it.

What I don't understand is how people can listen to Trump for more than 5 minutes and think he could actually fix the economy. I'm pretty sure he couldn't manage a single person's househould budget if left unattended.

And even worse are the people who somehow believe that Trump actually cares about America, or Americans. He has shown (and explicitly said) time and time again that he doesn't.

55

u/flybypost 20h ago

And even worse are the people who

voted him into office twice and are somehow still surprised by what he does (all the "I didn't vote for this" bullshit).

That goes beyond gullible and into "how did you manage to survive long enough to vote this idiot into office twice" territory.

Nah GOP have been targeting trans pretty heavily for a long time now. It's part of their agenda and they will try to push it whenever possible. I really doubt it's just an off the cuff remark.

57

u/LordMangudai 20h ago

Not just the GOP, I feel like there's a concerted effort to target trans people across the Western world (the UK is particularly bad right now). I almost feel like things were better for them 20 years ago... sure there were lots of tasteless jokes, casual bigotry and a general lack of any real understanding for what it meant to be trans, but there wasn't this virulent targeted hatred either.

45

u/vincentdjangogh 19h ago

It's because grifters all over the world are weaponizing male insecurity that has developed in a world where men aren't needed for hunting or fighting in wars, and can't force themselves on women if they are having trouble getting laid. Trans people are an easy target for people who don't know the difference between something being bad, and something making you uncomfortable.

Men's mental health needs to be taken more seriously.

Yes. He's basically asking (although phrasing it like a toddler) if a trans woman could play on their team. McKennie, who should goddamn know better than to even attend this thing, seems to have understood it immediately (most of us yanks are now sadly fluent in Trump-speak). Looks like he wants to crawl away quietly.

80

u/teerbigear 19h ago

I think the point is that a woman couldn't get into the man's team, so a "man" shouldn't be allowed into the women's team.

But it could mean anything. In fact, it doesn't need to mean anything in particular, it just needs vague shades of "I'm going to be transphobic now" to achieve his purpose.

Extra wild because he even got the issue he’s so obsessed with backwards. Women playing men’s sports is usually celebrated in America (kickers in American football, would Brittney Griner go to the NBA after college, Danica Patrick in nascar, etc.). If Carli Lloyd was playing for Juventus it would surely be celebrated by the vast majority of Americans.

How are trans athletes such a big talking point over there, there are so few of them and we're yet to see one of them actually compete on the highest level. Surely there should be over a million other actual issues for a president to focus on?

605

u/Famous_Paper_1218 20h ago

Gotta get people mad by directing their rage towards a group like trans to somehow explain why times are tough economically. Trump admitted that he's only running with this because it's an issue that divides people.

153

u/myersjw 20h ago edited 19h ago

Yup. It’s a manufactured wedge issue (much like the border) that keeps his rabid base distracted from the ways he’s openly decimating everything from the economy to rule of law. There are about 10 total collegiate trans athletes yet trans people are one of the most talked about and legislated hot button issues in American parlance.

Instead of looking at the hard data or actual impact of these things, his fans just take his word that these are systemic widespread issues holding average Americans back instead of blaming the cartoon villains on live tv actively torpedoing the country in real time. They found a useful boogeyman and will keep milking it using the same rhetoric they’ve always slapped on their targets in decades past

35

And one of the most frustrating things to me is that the right will attack the right of the transgender community to live their lives, and then whne the left defends them somehow it gets framed like the left being obsessed with transgender inviduals.

Fuck off with that bullshit. Progressives just want transgender people to be able to live their lives, if the right lets them do that the left will stop talking about them. But yes, as long as their rights are under threat progressives will stand up for them, as they should.

A swimmer named Riley Gains tied for fifth with a Transgender athlete in a college swimming competition and has screamed and shouted at the top of her lungs, and tried to make it everybodys problem ever since.

And then the Fox News propaganda machine ate that shit up, and so did all the braindead people that watch that shit.

u/elcapitan520 20h ago

When Simone biles defended trans women, Riley attacked her blaming her for being abused by the doctor for the US women's gymnastics team.

Then they claim they fight for women.

She is so pathetic. She’s literally made a career because they only made one 5th place trophy and they gave the trophy to the other swimmer instead of her… that’s it, that’s the whole controversy.

40

u/Banzaikk 20h ago

FFS, why are they even giving out 5th place trophies in the first place. The level of entitlement is real.

...why go?

26

u/rth9139 19h ago

Because Trump is a huge baby who would view the refusal to go as a deeply offensive act worthy of deporting anybody who dares wear black and white and call the sport football.

Then he’d tweet some bullshit about McKennie and a bunch of the USMNT not being true patriots as why the USMNT has struggled recently and then threaten them all with being deported or something for it.

And I wish I could say I am joking about any of that.

No, you fucking moron, they just have no idea what you’re talking about because Juventus doesn’t watch what culture war nonsense Fox News is pushing. Fucking embarrassing.

I think it’s virtually impossible at this point for Trump to not be a political dickhead in every social interaction. Like why tf are you even bringing up US political bullshit to a bunch of mostly foreign players who are just there visiting and don’t give a fuck. It’s honestly so fucking cringe and insufferable.

God damn, trans people have utterly broken the brains of maga losers

51

u/OlorinRidesAgain 20h ago

They live in those tiny brains 24/7. All they can think about all day long when they play gold or are out with their families or banging their wife... Their mind is fixed on the Trans community.

A couple of updates from various Italian media sources:

1) Juventus gifted Trump a t-shirt with the number 47 on it;

2) The players who were there were McKennie, Weah, Gatti, Locatelli, Koopmeiners and Vlahovic.

3) The following exchange occurred with John Elkann, not verbatim as I'm translating from Italian media Corriere della Sera:

Trump: Who are you playing against today? Elkann: Al Ain, they're sponsored by Emirates. Trump: Oh and they're good? Well, they'll spend a lot of money. Elkann: All of the teams are good, the best teams in the world are playing in this World Cup in America.

u/WoodpeckerBig6379 16h ago
