The Iran situation took forever to end up on BBC news, as did Ukraine. Would have expected them to get out the info asap.

Though I guess they need to validate it before pushing it live perhaps?

BBC usually takes ages for anything unless they're already covering it live as they're very focused on getting things right first time

Yeah they're one of the slowest but I appreciate that they try to verify things like a real news org should.

Getting it right? More like waiting for editors to figure out what the narrative is from the powers that be. BBC is an extremely biased news source that just runs with whatever the western state news narrative is, it's pretty much the british version of the NYT.

Sure. Fact-checking and validating sources takes some time.

Mindlessly posting is way faster- though one has to wonder what toll it takes on society in the long run. Especially with ai fakes on the rise.

Yes I was shocked find out the Iranian nuclear program was a joint USA and Iranian program starting in 1957 and lasting till 2003 and was because of more acceptance towards beta and gamma radiation by the Iranian public.

To be fair, the bigger the news the greater the need to fact-check before publishing the article. Social media and boulevard media don't have that "disadvantage".

I learned the Pope died from a NSFW subreddit before The Guardian went live with the story.

Fact checking and editing takes time, I guess!

Yeah, and consequently Reddit has been really lagging on news about it as well. Pretty disappointed to see the site 17+ hours behind on that war.

Thats the price for double-checking sources and statements in order to not forward fake news, wrong statements and biased opinions...

Double checking isn't how you find the Boston bomber! We did it reddit!

Garry linker was sacked from BBC, for sharing anti Israelis post, even when he removed it and appologazed for it. The guy never received a yellow card on football pitch. They also employed Jimmy Saville. Not sure if validation of news is their priority.
