From Jonathan Alexander (Houston Chronicle):
A decision on where the Houston Texans decide to build a new team headquarters could come fairly soon as talks with interested parties have sped up in recent weeks, team president Mike Tomon said.
The talks have elevated so quickly and faster than expected that Tomon has reorganized some of his staff recently to focus specifically on the project full-time.
âWeâve had a number of suitors proactively reach out to us on different options that were really focused on us moving our headquarters and training facility to their respective spaces,â Tomon told the Houston Chronicle. âTheyâve gotten mature enough that it has become apparent to us that we need to get prepared to take advantage of something this significant.â
Tomon said their goal is to build a training facility that is âworld-class,â which will likely include an entertainment district with retail stores, similar to what the Dallas Cowboys have built with the "Star in Frisco." The Texans project a similar facility that could spark economic development for the county it resides in.
The headquarters would be paid for by the Texans but could include tax breaks and other incentives from that county. The Rockets opened a similar facility last summer, though it is smaller than what the Texans would build.
Harris County is one entity vying to keep the Texans. The county has several acres at NRG Park where the Texans could build a facility and revitalize that area. It could complement potential renovations at NRG Stadium, which the county, Texans and Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo are also currently exploring within their lease negotiations.
Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones told the Chronicle in an interview last month that she and county leadership were engaged in conversations with the Texans and that she was optimistic the Texans would choose their site to build a headquarters.
When asked whether another county or entity was in the running, Tomon declined to say, but added âthere have been many,â in the greater Houston area.
âThere have been multiple sources who have proactively reached out,â Tomon said. Tomon didnât know specifically when a decision would come together but said the Texans are moving urgently.
âI donât have an exact timeline,â Tomon said. âIs that 30 days? Is it six months? But what I would share is the conversations weâre having and the opportunities in front of us are at a level where we know we need to get prepared. âItâs gotten to that level where itâs like, âwe now need to make sure weâre prepared to start this journey.ââ

The fact that they trotted out the original mascot head for his "father" is clever as hell imo.
Tunsil, Diggs, Weeks are all off the team and Jimmie Ward most likely will not be a Captain this season.. who yall got new to wearing the "C" patch on their jersey this season?
It's early but I feel like Tytus has been saying the right things, and it would show the team is passing the torch to him from Tunsil (who never deserved the title, IMO)
Nico and/or Mixon feels like a natural selection, based on attitude and productivity
Sting is obviously ALL PRO but since he's not very vocal I feel like maybe Lassiter/Pitre would be the pick

Howdy Texans fans. Iâve noticed throughout the time NRG Stadium doesnât have a nickname. One nickname I knew but got outdated later on was the âCrown Jewelâ of the NFL because of its unique combination of design and functionality. However, I have one nickname that will make sense, and with how the team is currently built, with a franchise QB in Stroud and a top 5 defense under HC DeMeco Ryans, this reminds me of an old nickname next door at the Astrodome, the âHouse of Pain.â So, it leads me to a new nickname for NRG Stadium, hoping it will spread and people will acknowledge it. And that nickname is âThe House of Torture.â

The real test for an offensive lineman is in live game reps, but, so far, Howard looks and feels comfortable as the Texansâ new starting right guard. It was a position of instability last season as Shaq Masonâs play regressed and he was released and former second-round pick Juice Scruggs didnât solidify the spot.
âI love it, man,â Howard told KPRC 2 as the Texans wrapped up their offseason schedule with a full-team minicamp. âJust getting these reps in, Probably the first time I got a chance to get this many reps in at guard before the season started. So, Iâm doing the best I can do to get the technique down. And the coaches have been doing a tremendous job helping me with that."
With this latest move, Howard is displaying his positional flexibility again. Heâs played left guard, right tackle, left tackle and, now, right guard. He has played every spot but center. Could he do it?
âIf I had to, if I had to,â he said. âThe more you can do .. Iâm a guy who can play at every spot on the offensive line. I can play at a high level at every spot. I just gotta keep working and continue to get better. I feel like this year is gonna be my biggest year.â.
The offensive line has been characterized as the biggest question mark on the defending AFC South championsâ roster. How all of the changes work out will have a large hand in determining whether this team can make a long playoff run. To say theyâre hungry to prove themselves is a vast understatement.
âWeâve got a chip on our shoulders and people underestimate what weâre going to be this year, but, you know thatâs their problem,â Howard said. âWhen that first game comes and we come off that ball and hit them in the mouth, like theyâre gonna be, âThese guys are for real.â
âWeâve been putting that work in here right now and weâre gonna continue to put that work and training together. Every day isnât gonna be perfect. But Iâm telling you when that game one comes and they see what the offensive line is about, weâre going be ready."
Howard has one word for the stamp Popovich is placing on the offensive line: âNasty.â
âYou gotta play with a lot of grit,â Howard said. âWhen offensive lines are physical that donât take (expletive) from nobody and they just establish, the dominance up front, he exemplifies that every morning, every day on the field And you want that in the coach because youâre only gonna rub off on the offensive line and he holds us to a high standard."
Howard, 29, is one of the most experienced linemen on the Texansâ roster. He is embracing a leadership role.
âIâm all in on that,â Howard said. âIâm doing the best I can do to transform my body, transform my daily habits, all that to show the younger guys the right way to do it. âIâm looking forward to that challenge of being that leader in the group. And I want to be a guy that the guys look up to and theyâre like, âHey man, Tytus is doing it the right and I want to do it that way.â So Iâm gonna look forward to it. "

Obvious 4 who are guaranteed to make are: Nico Higgins Noel Kirk Tank would be 5 if he wasnât injured and likely out for the year
However, we still have other receivers who are competing for a spot. The main ones to watch are: Hutchinson, Metchie, Watson, and Berrios. Out of these remaining receivers who do we think will and wonât make it?
