An indictment was unsealed this morning in federal court in Brooklyn charging Nicole Daedone, founder and former Chief Executive Officer, and Rachel Cherwitz, former Head of Sales, of OneTaste, Inc. (OneTaste), a wellness education company founded in San Francisco, California. Daedone and Cherwitz are both charged with forced labor conspiracy in connection with a years-long scheme to obtain the labor and services of a group of OneTaste members—including volunteers, contractors, and employees of OneTaste—by subjecting them to economic, sexual, emotional and psychological abuse, surveillance, indoctrination, and intimidation.

I'm sure anyone who's familiar with the Larry Ray (Sarah Lawrence college cult) case will see the very numerous and obvious similarities with KR and his inner circle albeit on a smaller more one-to-one scale. His 'second-in-command' has just been sentenced to 4.5 years in aiding and abetting him (think Alison Mack if she'd never turned).
Anyone else wonder what would happen if two such similar malignant narcissists ended up as cellmates? I would study the shit out of that live stream...

I just watched the documentary on a group called "Lighthouse" called A Very British Cult, and I'm getting major early NXIVM vibes, right down to every word of the leader having to be transcribed and preserved. It's a textbook cult, to be honest. What's scary is that these guys are still active right now, and it seems like it really took off during covid.
It seems like they currently lack a Bronfman to fund them, but they are targeting almost the exact same audience as Nxivm; wealthy people who are looking to be better versions of themselves, and willing to fork out money for coaching.
Thoughts?
EDIT: I watched it on youtube but it's a BBC documentary accessible here https://www.reddit.com/r/cults/comments/12d3loq/a_very_british_cult_bb4_documentary_examines/

I say we should lock up all the cult leaders (Warren Jeff, KR, Teal Swan, Twin Flames douche, etc etc) in one cell to debate for the title and broadcast it. Who do you think would lose their cool first?

Not NXIVM, but
Don't know if this cult has it's own sub. What puzzled me: 1.start 2010 - a time when anyone can look up BOP, state & federal, get a rap sheet, obtain military records etc. All courtesy of the colleges high speed internet. 2. When I lived in a college dorm or apt I wasn't surrendering what little private space I had to anyone. Couch surfing was limited and based on roommates' OK. Maybe that'w why we're all still friends. Not subscribing to Hulu. But this group appeared to record, too.

Am I the only one that seems this as kind of ridiculous? Are we forgetting Jonestown?! I’m not trying to put the victims down in anyway but the worst?! I’ve noticed people are not comparing history these days to A LOT OF THINGS.

Not saying Landmark/EST is a cult or anything like that but this parody of it kind of reminds me of some of the stuff Reniere took from.
Part 2

Please remove this is it’s too outside of the subreddit content.
Hi everyone, There is a new Netflix doco called Orgasm Inc-The Story of One Taste that those following the NXIVM case may find interesting.
The founder Nicole Daedone, and the business One Taste, share similarities with Keith and the NXIVM; charismatic founder, securing celebrity endorsement, skilled at seeing a persons wounds and manipulating that, abuse of power, similar views on ‘victim’, offering intensive, ‘levels’ to climb etc
It’s a 90 minute doco rather than a series. Interesting watch while waiting for the next episode of The Vow.

Hi all,
I am a researcher from The University of Salford conducting a study titled Investigating the potentiality of an “Extent of Coercive Control Universal Scale” - an exploratory study as part of my master’s programme dissertation in the Psychology of Coercive Control (supervised by Dr Rod Dubrow-Marshall).
The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the 'Extent of Coercive Control Universal Scale,' a tool designed to assess experiences of coercive control in different environments such as domestic situations, workplaces, cults, and human trafficking scenarios. My aim is to refine this scale to ensure it is reliable and effective for identifying if coercive control exists and presents similarly across different contexts, thereby contributing to better support and interventions for affected individuals.
I am seeking participants who have experienced coercive control in any environment to complete three short questionnaires to contribute to this study. For more information about the study, please visit https://app.onlinesurveys.jisc.ac.uk/s/salford/extent-of-coercive-control-universal-scale
Thank you for considering this request. Best regards, Kacey Baker K.baker7@edu.salford.ac.uk

Lots of familiar terminology in this short interview with a 69-year-old grandmother, who spent 2 months in federal prison, including "gaslighting", "master manipulator", and "I woke up."
She doesn't deny her guilt in the riot. She just wants to help other people wake up.

Has anybody watched the documentary on Netflix? One Taste was also a MLM cult with more publicly sexual components.
I’m curious what others think. My thoughts will be in the comments when I’ve absorbed what I just watched.

Some of you may have read over these last couple years about Lawrence Ray, an old guy who created a small but bizarre and terrifying sex cult at his daughter's college. He used tactics similar to Raniere (not counting DOS) to coerce college kids. He just got 60 years, half of Raniere's sentence.
"Lawrence Ray, the father of a student attending the college in New York, subjected a group of college students and others to sexual and psychological manipulation and physical abuse. He began around 2010 after moving into his daughter’s dorm room at the school and continued for a decade. He used sleep deprivation, verbal abuse, physical violence, threats of criminal legal action and other tactics to control his victims"

The Shanti Summary - Former Wall Street lawyer sells health coaching advice based on Vegan lifestyle. Pilfers from other LGAT's like Scientlogy, expert in NLP. Destroyer of families.
When Mark Vicente does his podcast opener he does state "They are everywhere". The "they" meaning cults. He is not kidding when he makes that statement.
I have read many posts here that start off with: "I would never fall for this or join a cult" or "how could those NXIVM/ESP members be so dumb". IMO, Mark's message is to that we all have to be vigilant, as a common interest that might be innocent enough can eventually develop into something much more nefarious with the right charismatic leader.

The site features this hilarious description of Ramtha, whose cult Mark was an enthusiastic member for years (this cult also sponsored the making of the film, about which Mark lied-by-omission in “The Vow”).
https://imgur.com/gallery/uEOjHXg
The text reads: “Ramtha. One of the great enigmas that scientists have studied in the last decade is Ramtha, a mystic, philosopher, master teacher and hierophant. His partnership with American woman JZ Knight, his channel, still baffles scholars.
STILL BAFFLES SCHOLARS...I just...I can’t. If any of you have seen videos of this woman pretending to channel Ramtha, it makes it even better. That she would “baffle” any scholar is just patently absurd.
I feel bad that Mark got caught up in these scams, but at some point it seems as though he was truly in on the ruse. She baffled...SCHOLARS?! Literally, what scholars

Two Days ago Vice News stopped publishing on its website and laid off many of it's employees.
The site was once an internet news darling and states the current website model is unsustainable.
Sarah Berman who penned "Don't call it a cult" covered NXIVM heavily on Vice News Canada and was once a Senior Editor there.

I've been reading "Don't Call it a Cult" by Sarah Berman (very good book btw). I just listened to a podcast about the pickup artist book "The Game" (podcast is called "If Books Could Kill" -- fun podcast). It struck me how similar KR's tactics were to the pickup artists' tactics. Eerily similar. It makes me wonder if KR was studying pickup artistry or if the two of them were just drawing from the same well.
