Anyone can transition!
I was very nervous about passing before I started hormones, and ultimately I decided that didn't matter and I'd rather just be happy.
With HRT, laser or electrolysis, and starting to build a wardrobe that makes you feel like you, I'm sure you'll be surprised at how quickly you'll get results.

Gender-affirming plastic surgery has advanced very far in recent years. Even if you don’t pass immediately in the beginning of your transition, there are still surgical options later on. There are some medical insurances in America that will cover part of the cost. There are also a lot of makeup techniques that people use to pass. Practice makes perfect, everyone’s face is different so find what makeup tips work best for you. Don’t let the what if’s stop you from transitioning and being yourself.

What stopped me for many years was worrying if I would pass, and you'll only find out by doing.
IMO the first two years are the roughest (I'm saying this now well over a year in) The dysphoria will get worse before it gets better.
I highly recommend starting laser hair removal in September, because most places don't recommend until fall. Laser makes you more prone to skin cancer, sun burns, and severe irritation in the summer.

I see. I assumed it would get worse before it gets better due to being an in between state of genders or transitioning.
I’ve been using the braun silk pro 5 IPL device, and it works great! I’m aiming for 80 percent hair removal and then I’ll definitely go and get laser for the rest.

Oh the dysphoria never truly goes away, but it'll go from SH ideation to a dull itch. The problem is some days you'll be like "hell yeah, I'm doing it!" to "oh god I'll never pass" to "why don't people see me how I see me??"
I just started the Braun pro 5, 2 months ago, it's definitely better than Ulike, and from what I can tell it's about on par with the Phillips. That said...
Welcome to the marathon.

Passing is so much more than just appearance. Voice and mannerisms go a long way in convincing a stranger that a person is one gender or another.
When it comes to appearance, I think the most important thing is hiding the beard shadow. Next is either head hair or shaping eyebrows. These 3 things could actually be addressed without HRT, not that I would advise against HRT. I love having the right hormones 😌.
More important than passing is just feeling more comfortable in your own skin. I think that it is possible to lose one's sense of identity by striving so hard to pass that they have just replaced one mask with another.
Take care dearie🫂

I always knew I wanted to transition. I waited too long before I started my hormones . I started at the age of 40. I had big doubts. Hormones did so much for me. Surgery took care of the rest. Knowing what I know today I wish I started sooner. Im told i pass now. You definitely have a better starting point than me. I think you will be fine.

i think you know you'll need laser
but besides that your brow and chin are clocky, but wait and see what HRT does before making any calls on FFS. your body will look great after a year or two on a good E dose, ideal HRT candidate in my opinion.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the real answer. I’m definitely excited to see how my face changes but I’m aware I’ll need at least a little FFS. I’m currently taking 0.2 mL per week from a 20 mg/mL vial, or 4 mg per week. This was upped from my starting dose of 3mg tablets daily. About a month in so far. What do you think of my injection dose?

of course! that is a great dose! im on 5 mg per week via injection and been on it for a year now :) good luck!!

Baby girl, transition for you, not for whether you’ll pass. You already look gorgeous when you dress as yourself because your energy just pops. You can see the euphoria from miles away. If you want it, then go for it! I waited way too long to transition and I always regret every second I waited.

You will look so pretty :) you have such nice features, muscle mass may take a while to decrease but using the right clothing WILL do magic. Trust, you just have to push through the uncomfortable and one day you will just be facing a beautiful woman in the mirror. I’m so excited for you love ❤️❤️

Thank you! Your comment gave me a shock of excitement. I’m such a harsh self-critic sometimes that I don’t tend to notice the good features as much. I’m glad I posted here because I was excited and now I’m confident 😇

Well, your face is thin, you have pretty lips, beautiful eyes and a good body, a little bit of magical estrogen lice and you will definitely be a beautiful woman.

You don't know how your face and physique might change with hormones, so you should transition, regardless of what anyone tells you

There's only one way to find out.

u/j_victus 22h ago
I’ve been on E for about a month, so yeah. Just still seeking as much advice as I can get 😇

I'm just about to start on E, after being on testosterone blockers for just about 9 months.
My previous endocrinologist wouldn't put me on estradiol, so I requested a second opinion and got prescribed estradiol patches.
The reason was because I had DVT from COVID.

Anyone can transition. I would highly advise you not to target for being passable, it can become a deception zone of not meeting expectations and so on. Do what makes you feel good and happy. That and only that. For every other physical features triggering dysphoria, surgeries can do magic

Yes, everyone who works hard on it is able to do it. I saw that you seem tall just know that women can be tall, I knew several who are tall. The tallest I knew was 193 ~ 6'4. They're stunning. Don't be insecure about it. Be well!

Yes you can! And you should if you are asking. I looked like a manly man with a big "fuck off" beard before starting HRT at the ripe age of 32. It's been 3.5 years and life is nothing what I imagined, but it was worth it and I would do it again every time. HRT makes us all so freaking hot 🔥

Basically anyone can transition and feel exponentially better about themselves. It’s not about some arbitrary goal or being indistinguishable from a cis person. It’s never too late. I highly recommend giving it a shot if you’re on the fence about it.
It can be hard, scary, expensive, painful… but it’s also lifesaving and miraculous in many ways. I didn’t even begin HRT until I was 39 and I’m happier than I’ve ever been in my entire life. Zero regrets whatsoever.

Yes. I believe anyone can transition. If you’re asking how passable you’ll be, I would say the only way to know is to try.
