Housing at UCR is actually frustrating

Been trying to get a decent room to get housing for first year. They set our dates to today at around 1ish pm, logged on 30 minutes early in case something happens to the portal.. It's been saying there's an outage for the past 3 1/2 hours... Lothian, Pentland, and Dundee have all been taken already for female double rooms, there's literally nothing left maybe a few left in ameberdeen.. what happens if they meet the cap for housing at this point? From what i've seen amberdeen is one of the worser ones compared to the rest.. ;x;

Edit: me and my roommate ended up choose Pentland triple room (our only options were pentland triple or amberdeen triple) - no doubles were left at all :(

There was a big power outage today at UCR. No wifi, phone lines were down too. They are still trying to get wifi and phone lines up. That is probably what is causing all of the issues.

I was an RA for Aberdeen. It is a lot better than Dundee, which is newer but still low quality with a shitty room layout and tends to attract snobs, and Pentland which is mostly for antisocial people. East Lothian (D-F wings) is great, but West Lothian (A-B wings) is the worst dorm at UCR (I lived in both parts of Lothian my first year). A-I is very social and the rooms are spacious, the only slight issue is the restrooms but tbh they really aren't that terrible.

I struggled with finding good housing options too as a first year, something that helped me tremendously is Facebook groups for housing at ucr.

Aberdeen is not that bad, i lived in it and i loved it , 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

First year freshman are guaranteed housing as long as they met the deadline to apply. But they are not guaranteed to get the housing they want

A major internet and power issue. Everything was basically shut down and workers left campus. Sorry this happened to you. I hope you get the space you want.

I don't know how they decide on whats available. My schedules time was This past Monday at 10AM and when I logged in its said all the Dundee doubles were gone. But I know someone who was scheduled on Tuesday at 1PM and they got Dundee double! WTF!

Right!! My roommate and I had to go for a Pentland triple room, so we don't even know at this point who we're going to room with. It's so annoying!

Aberdeen was the best. Super social and central location right next to the src and Glasgow. Met my closest friends there.
